hi mr.Flynn, I am currently studying Math AA HL and I was thinking for my IA to have the topic "Comparing soccer players' wages to basketball players wages using probability models", do you think this is a good topic, if not please provide your feedback.

Hi Mr.Flynn, would I be a good IA to model the pharmacokinetic profile of a drug using Lagrange polynomials and non linear regression (bi-exponential decay function)?

Hi My Flynn! It is an awesome video, but I wonder which year's paper 3 question is it?

Hello, Mr. Flynn. Your IA videos gave me the confidence I needed to make a start for my exploration. Currently thinking about doing something where I compare India's monthly average exchange rate (against USD) for the past 20 years with its Forex Reserves, using the same time intervals and total time. I'll have to fish out and compile the data myself, which is fine, but how much explaining would I have to do for it? And would this idea work out? I was thinking to just carry out the statistical tests we have in AI SL, and perhaps the points of inflexion and max or min points like you said in your previous video. Still brainstorming... what do you think?

Hey Mr Flynn! I'm thinking of doing my AA HL IA on this topic: Examining: if there's a relationship between student GPAs and their salaries during software engineering internships. Is this a good topic that is rigorous enough for my course? I intend to collect primary data.

Hi Mr Flynn. Your videos are extremely helpful! I'm working through my SL IA which investigates the relationship between the money a National Hockey League (NHL) player earns and the impact they have on their team. The aim is to see whether there is a maximum point at which increasing the pay of a player no longer correlates with better performance, and to use this information to comment on the strategy General Managers should use to build their teams. For example, if I find that after reaching a certain pay, performance does not improve, I can say that General Managers should hold onto their money, and instead of spending large amounts on 1 or 2 players, that they should spend less on more players to achieve a more balanced performance / more "buck for their bang". I hope that's not too confusing, but what do you think?

Hello Mr Flynn, Would it be a good idea to do a maths AA HL IA on modelling a roller coaster or do something about cycloid curves?

Hi Mr. Flynn, I’ve been subscribed for a few months and was wondering if my topics for an IA in AA SL are feasible. Both involve stats; the first focuses on the relationship between crime rate and death penalty (to see if it actually deters it), while the other one is the correlation between religion and opinions on the death penalty. I just wonder if these should even be pursued or if I should scrap them as personal engagement plays a role, thank you.

Hi Mr Flynn, thanks for your video, useful as always! I'm studying math AA HL and a part of my IA is to determine whether there is a statistical difference between the number of points per game scored by a badminton player before and after a car accident. So this involves some hypothesis testing using t-test/one-way ANOVA/etc (a statistical test for difference in means). However, points won per game is a discrete variable (specifically count variable), and such statistical tests are designed for continuous dependent variables. Is there a way to justify my act to apply such tests despite inputting discrete data? I have searched through online sources and answers to my question varies, some saying that as long as the discrete data aren't close to zero it should be fine, while others saying that it depends on whether the categories (e.g 1 point won, 2 points won, ...) are evenly spaced.

Hey Mista Flynn, would it be good to do an AA SL IA on: the relationship between leg length and vertical jumping distance? It would obviously be a statistics IA to see if there is a correlation between the two

Hi Mr.Flynn, I looked into some more IA ideas to do., I was inclined towards the new royal Atlantis building at the palm, the only possible idea I was able to think of was possibly modeling a function of the building and using integration. But I won't be able to achieve with a 7 with this, I have been struggling for multiple days on how I could develop further on this. I am strongly drawn to involving architecture within the IA, since I believe I can integrate multiple math concepts and I have a strong interest in it as well, but I am lost as to what math and idea I could investigate with this. I also thought of the new royal Atlantis building as an option but again I am not sure how to implement trigonometry/calculus within it (maybe possibly, how many rooms can be added in the terraces of the building to maximise the number of rooms in the building).

Hi Mr Flynn, I want to do my IA on - Comparing the compound interest of different coffee shops of different countries to see how they compare until 2032. I'm in HL math and was wondering if there are other HL techniques to go about this IA.

Hello Mr Flynn, thank you for this video it was very helpful. I was wondering if my MAA HL topic would be appropriate. I wanted to try constructing a statistical model that evaluates the rates and risks of suicide in people who have been discharged from an in-patient psychiatric facility after different lengths of time and depending on their underlying mental illnesses and the reasons why they were put into this psychiatric facility in the first place. I am not sure if this topic is complex enough for MAA HL and am worried about starting my investigation into it without being sure that I can in fact continue it. Thank you very much!

Hello Mr.Flynn, I am taking IB HL Math, I have recently come up with an idea of Finding the "best" choice for a consumer when searching for a specific good on Taobao(Chinese online product buying website (e.g) like amazon) based off various factors such as (price, legitimacy of the good, discount, additional cost of refund, etc.) all in relation to the number of scrolls(items come across in sequential order). I was thinking I would explore various goods online, record all these types of data and then implementing statistics to analyze. Maybe even model the average price of all the goods in relation to number of scrolls to see if there is a relationship. Could this IA work ? However, I am a bit stuck on how I could use statistics to analyze the data.
