LDV T60 Review - New Player Has Entered the Game

The LDV T60 is a fresh off-the-boat offering to the ever-growing bakkie segment. This new double-cab bakkie is positioned as a competitor to the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max big three, but also hopes to steals sales away from the Volkswagen Amarok, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara and compatriots from GWM, JAC, Foton etc.

With strong on-paper engine figures and a generous list of standard equipment, the new LDV T60 looks promising. In this video review, Jacob Moshokoa gets behind the wheel of this new double-cab bakkie and evaluates the on-road drive, how it handles on dirt, and tests out the space and features.

Just for context, the top spec LDV is +/- R150k than the top GWM P-Series. I can already see them exiting the south african market before GTA VI arrives.
If Big Dave is reading this, I would like to propose a video.
CHINESE BAKKIES FACE OFF.
A comparison test including a drag race and light off road and on road tests where you guys review all the chinese bakkies.

I was born in England, and I remember seeing many LDV vans there when I was a toddler, basically LDV is a British brand that was bought by the Chinese who have used the name since. I used to see LDV Convoys, and Pilots driving around the place, but they aren’t made in England anymore, they are made in China

Shot themselves in the feet with that pricing. I am open to a Chinese bakkie and think their quality is acceptable for my needs, but at R750k, I’m getting a low mileage Hilux or Ranger.

It's basically pricing itself out of the market

A new Hilux 2.4 auto 4x 4 is under R600k
What on earth could you be smoking to even think of buying this absolute kak.

We need to remembered the rules of the economy. The fewer the supply, the higher the price. In time these vans will be many, the price will be cheaper that time. It is not really competing with any bakkie. It is offering an alternative. We may regret it after 10 years when we realize that this van survived beyond the established brands. Rivals are tipping the scales at 1 million rands already. China is too far. It was not cheap to get this beauty here. Well done, incredible review.

You must be off your rocker to pay 800k for this. Worth faaaakol in a few years time. You can buy a low mileage Hilux or Ranger for that price and get most of your money back on resale.

Presenter has a relaxed easy going presenting style - I guess it challenging to be unbiased especially when comparing against the more well-know brands...

You missed a storage space beneath the back seat and behind the back seat. That bakkie is very practical 🎉
