I respect your review, but I have five Google pixels, the 3 XL, 4XL and two Google pixel 7s. I've also had a OnePlus 8 the Samsung and others. As a South Beach fashion photographer I focus on the cameras and signal strength. In my opinion the 4XL is the best pixel phone ever made. It clearly outperforms even the pixel 7. Too often reviews go by the "written" specs, which is marketing. I judge a phone by performance and signal strength. The 4XLs signal strength is twice what the pixel 7 is. The performance of the 4XL outperforms the Samsung and even the pixel 7. And, why I just bought another 4 XL. This phone does more with two cameras than the Samsung does with three. Quality over quantity. Take off the Wi-Fi and set a pixel 4 XL next to a pixel 7 or Samsung and see which phone has the strongest "signal strength", then compare images, not specs. Also the battery does not overheat because this phone is not overly tweaked as to market volatile specs. Respectfully

Have had mine for over 2 years now and still using it as daily driver and it's been a joy to use. No issues and the phone just works. Face unlock on it is incredible.

I love this phone. Everything about it. I still use it. The face unlock is the best on a phone. skip songs without touching the phone. Squeezing the phone for Google assistant it's a great device!

As of 24 Mar 2023, I'm seeing this phone in "Like New" condition for $180USD from Amazon Warehouse. I definitely think it's worth buying if you're looking for a good camera on the cheap.😲

Added a new battery in mine and it's as good as new... Only problem is the software updates have ended but it is still a fast phone.

I've learnt over the years not to listen to phone reviewers too much as the other comments here reflect. Phone reviewers tend to have a skewed perspective of one sort or another that reflects sometimes a narrow set of priorities that doesn't match the user experience for a lot of people. One thing you do is reel off stats without assessing the performance of the feature itself quite objectively enough. Such as the camera. Despite what I just said, reviewer Marques Brownlee has always correctly imo said the way Google uses software to process their photos is brilliant and the result has been one of the top 3 if not best cameras in the market up until only recently. It's only in the past two years that the top Galaxies and iPhone pros' cameras have exceeded Google's. The 4K features you refer to are things that the large majority of us don't need or care about. Some perspective - I am still using a Pixel 3XL and the camera is better than the recent Galaxy S22, the base model. Haven't seen the Galaxy S23 yet. I love the Oppo Find X5 Pro also but its photos are overprocessed and look a bit too synthetic. The only cameras I know of on a phone that produce better all round photos even than this 5 year old Pixel 3XL are the top range Galaxies and iPhones. The snapdragon 845 processor is still fast and keeps up with the demands of today's tech also and the speakers are excellent. There is still too little difference between this and the 7 Pro to warrant the outlay imo. I know there are some new features but I wouldn't use magic eraser myself anyway for example.

It's weird how many people who owned the Pixel 4xl said it is better than newer Pixels from the 6 & 7 lineup. I think many people hated this phone because of the price and awful battery life due to small batteries that weren't well optimized. But many older Pixels are better and it's very strange that Google has actually went backwards with their new phones. I saw one of these inside my local Verizon store when it was new and it was better than any of the Samsung S10 series and stood out more than iPhones. If this thing was still getting support, it'd be a contender for top android phones to own even in 2023.

That camera was just fine, my only gripe with it was the lack of 4k 60. Updates are done. It'll still work and work just fine as a daily right now without updates. 855 is still good today. It is easy to root and stay up to date with roms which is fortunate. When I had one I had a bug with face unlock, which was weird that the bug didn't exist with Lineage OS. Sounds like a problem that Google failed to address.

I don't get all.the.camara obsession . How many people really need a set of 4 camaras setup to take silly pictures of their kids or whatever. The camaras are important to a few pros out here that use them for work but 99% of people can't tell a 4k from a 1080 or lower if shown side by side pics. It's all advertising and upwelling to fools to make a buck and make phone prices high.

I dropped mine last year. Still works, screen not cracked, but the horrid green screen effect as a result.
