I created a brand new enemy type for my major Super Mario 64 hack, the Patchmaker’s Workshop. In this video, I go over some of the design foundations and principles for making an enemy that teaches the player mechanics.

I feel like the thing that could separate the podogoos from other enemies is that they could stick on walls. One of the podogoos could be in the middle of a moving platform that you need to grapple, and there the player could learn that the grapple does damage naturally.
