9 things to do in Puerto Rico:

1. Go to Cabo Rojo beaches
2. Go to Culebra (Flamenco Beach)
3. Go to El Yunque
4. Eat local, monfongo, empanadillas, pastelillos, frituras, you can find those anywhere... and the piña colada too
5. Explore the whole city of Old San Juan, go to Condado and Isla Verde, in the day and in the night too...
6. Go to Ponce and visit the south towns
7. Go to “Gozalandia”(San Sebastián)
8. Go to the beaches at the north, Dorado, Vega Baja, Manatí
9. Go one day into the “chinchorreo”, it is drinking and snacking in all the local places but do it in the inside towns(Naranjito, Barranquitas...)

I live here. The best thing to do is going to Culebra. The beaches and reefs are like fantasy.

This is so underwhelming there are soooo many more beautiful things to visit in Puerto Rico. That island holds a special place in my heart ❤️

You forgot to mention the African influence. Its a HUGE chunk of our culture and cuisine. It has been so for centuries and is stronger than American influences, which didn't appear till almost the mid-20th century, years after they bought us along with Guam and the Philippines back in 1898. I recommend that tourists read up on our history before coming here so they can truly understand the culture and fully enjoy the experience.

I’m very fortunate to be sharing my life with someone born and raised in Isabela, P.R. and still has a home there. (A very beautiful place, go if you haven’t been there yet, ) and to have done most of these things and been to these places. A few things left to do, sure but I have plenty of time. Going back to spend Christmas there this year.. I really can’t wait. I ADORE this island. I cry when I leave.

I went there last March and I would say go to the bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico. It is a lagoon that has glowing water due to special bacteria. It was a wonderful experience and there are very few places in the world to witness this.
