Don't you love how the news didn't even allow a full sentance from the inventors mouth.

Well it's great that someone is utilizing this effect but it's not really a discovery or revelation, except perhaps in the specifics of his device. Not trying to diminish this young man's efforts, but there are videos all over Youtube showing setups that utilize the same effect. One little utilized approach that would have the greatest impact would be harvesting water from the air conditioning/cooling process of buildings. I've seen it being done on a college campus in hot, drought ridden Texas, where they were supplying all the landscape watering needs with just the harvested water, which in turn offset the cost of electricity for cooling the buildings. Two birds with one stone is always better. This is also more efficient because they are simply adding a component onto an already established system that does all the "work", so there is no need for a separate facility or laying miles of copper pipe to form a condenser network.

Never a shortage of young people thinking they're the first to "invent" something and clueless news reporters to cheer them on.

Condensing water is not "creating" or "making" water.

The invention is the combination of a small power generator and the use of temperature difference between the humid air and the cooler earth in one small independent device. Physics are always the same, but the invention is, to know how to use it. So that is great, but success is determined by the price of the device, the humidity of the air and the actual output.

The Army has been doing that for years. Dig a hole place your rubberized parka over it to cover the hole. Place a rock in the middle for the water to flow towards a point, put your belt under the rock and it makes a quart or two of water over night.

This guy has made nothing. Yet they put him on mainstream news. Moses West a black man actually has a finished product and its in use and they don't mention him at all.

this "invention" looks like the Airdrop irrigation system invented by someone else. it won a dyson award.

guess he didn't know the water condensation temperature is 2 degree celcius (or 35 F), where can u find ground temperature of 2 degree in the desert?

I have been using water from a dehumidifier to water my house plants for years.

If an area has frequent drought, then the humidity will likely be too low for this to be efficient.

So it's a dehumidifier that uses solar power while producing probably next to nothing. Great.

This is a replication of Cal Courneya's patented air well, featured in Popular Science in the 1970s

Spray crystals into clouds and it makes them suck up moisture and makes it rain. They did that in Beijing or and they got snow instead because they did it in winter.

It’s called a dehumidifier and you can buy one in a cvs
