Spring Tutorial 36 - Introduction to Spring Data and Setting Up

This tutorial serves as an introduction to Spring Data support. We'll also install a lightweight database Apache Derby that we'll use in subsequent tutorials. We'll learn how to start Derby in Network server mode, and how to connect and run SQL queries using the ij client tool.

I think MySql would have been a better choice than Derby..considering that its more popular choice in the opensource rdbms category...

you can use oracle db na koushik, every one is familier with sql db. if you told in another one, its again waste of time in solving those db errors. Better if you use sql db and expaling again

If someone stuck around access denied for1527...then just put" startNetworkServer.bat -noSecurityManager " in cmnd line...or try changing java.policy file in lib of jre

Hi Kaushik,
I have been trying to setup SpringBoot with postgres as database.
After having completed the setup and tried to run the application, i get the below error "Caused by: FATAL: role "amol" does not exist".Not sure what exactly is the issue.

Please update your tutorial with classpath settings, otherwise drivers required to connect to Derby DB does not work.

Does anyone know if Apache Derby will conflict with Oracle SQL developer if both databases are installed ? (Using a work PC that uses Oracle SQL developer)
