Amen. Tongues is simply a language & the gift to speak or interpret a language or languages you do not know or knew beforehand.

I am a Catholic and my wife invited me to he charismatic Catholic group. I enjoyed it until the people started to speak in tongues. It frightened me and felt very uneasy. All i wanted to do is leave asap. I was told that it was the devil making me feel this way. But i doubt it then and still do. It did not seem right. I have traveled the world and can understand some languages and speak few. What was spoken was nothing i ever heard nor did it sound like any language. Most language has some kind of structure and order and speaking in tongues had none. God bless you all.

It always amazes me when people who never spoke in tongues simply try to deny the existence of such …even to people who genuinely do speak in tongues

For those who use 1 Corinthians 14:2 to support the charismatic form of speaking in tongues, please read these verses later in the chapter:
Verse 5b: "The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up."
Verse 6: "Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? "
Verse 9: " So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air."
Verse 19: " Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue."
Verse 23: "If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?"
Verses 27/28: "If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God."
Verse 39: " So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order."
Unintelligible tongues are clearly only for personal communication with God and are not to be conducted within church functions as they do NOT edify the body of Christ. Instead ask for God to give you prophesy and intelligible tongues that may be interpreted for the building up of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

We must worship In spirit and in truth, become more of holy spirit annonting and less carnal, that is where we have a supernatural experience, such as speaking in tongues. I do believe because i have experienced it, and it is beautiful. AMEN THANK YOU JESUS!!!

I’m so sad and desperate and i also can barely sleep, people and all this denominations make me so confused, we had a prophetic ministry at our church i knew it was god speaking to me for more reason among the uplifting messages, it was a couple from USA and they both had prophetic gifts, he told me that he’d pray for me that night and that i should also pray and read the book of acts from 1-3 and nothing happened that night until the next morning i started praying all of a sudden in another language that i could not understand so it happened to me at home not in the church and i was speaking fast, i don’t think the best actors would be able to perfectly copy me and it sounds a bit gibberish but it’s not always the same, but now i just wake up with so many pros and cons .. i’m just confused, so many different opinions, i just want to do what’s right for God, after i received this gift i was so happy and i received strength to get rid of things that were still not right in my life .. i don’t want to speak in a demonic language :( i don’t want others to discourage me ... i love god so much .. it hurts me if i can’t follow his true path because of so many interpretations.. i prayed that he might reveal the truth now i’m still waiting ..

Ask yourself this question. Are you doing this because your denomination doesn't believe in tongues or are doing this inspired by the Holy Spirit.

If you say that tongues is demonic. ... ask yourself are you filled with the Holy Spirit.
Do you have any of the gifts? Yes tongues is just one of the gifts. Do you sincerely seek for other gifts?
Don't deceive yourself and others.

i believe in talking in tongues but i think alot of the time .some people are fakeing it for attention

But in the bible it also talks about having an interpreter with you when speaking in tongues in certain situations. The bible also says, I think, if everyone speaks in tongues, and none speakers enter, to stop. Also the devil doesn't understand when we speak in tongues, neither should we understand each other, it's a secret conversation to God. But I do believe God gives us the power to speak in other languages too (Spanish, French, Hebrew, etc.)

Revelation 13:13 does not deal with speaking in tongues. I'm afraid you have wrested scripture there to suit your teaching.

we believe what we believe and know what we know. as far as praying in tongues i t's true, i experienced it, with no one teaching or telling what to expect, i was expose to the Baptism in Yeshua or Jesus name not many days after i was lead by The Holy Spirit on top of a 14 story building where i fell on my knee praising The Most High and all of a sudden i felt a mild rushing wind approaching from behind until it was upon me (remember not knowing what to aspect ) the at that moment i felt as if it was a large hand firmly holding me around my ab's at the same time i heard a sound what sound like to me a turkey gobbling in the background as it fast approach me then i heard a soft spoken voice say, " open your eyes" and it was me speaking in a tongue that i knew not of. there's more but i don't want to write a book. i know that tongues exist, and what about the Scriptures Romans 8:26; 1 Corinthians 14:4-17; Ephesians 6:18 and Jude 20 . so therefore " I KNOW PRAYING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT EXIST (TONGUES).

The nine gifts of the Holy Spirit should be studied more, the gift of tongues is just as relevant as the other gifts. You shouldn't make such a rash judgment without complete understanding. It is dangerous to teach doctrines you don't fully understand James 3:1

There is a counterfeit, no doubt. But there definitely is a true gift of tongues which is possible to believers today through the Holy Spirit. I speak in tongues. And I know MANY stable, fully surrendered Christians who also do so. It edifies the Spirit.

Speaking in tongues is true up to this day. I still remember the first time I spoke in tongues, when I was 22 years old I remember reading the bible every night and then one night a huge demon suddenly strangled me, I couldn't move and speak because he is too strong. He is so mad at me and I thought in that moment I will die and in my mind I'm praying to Jesus to help me then suddenly my lips began to move and I spoke in a language that I never know and heard before and that demon who wants to kill me suddenly disappeared. My sister asked her Christian friend about that incident and she confirmed that I spoke in tongues. Even up to now I still speak in tongues.. Do not say that the works of the Holy Spirit is demonic, you will be endangered to go to hell for that.
