STCW Basic Safety Training (STCW 78 as amended / 2010) certificates are a requirement for virtually all professional seafarers, who must be trained in compliance with the STCW convention.
If you want to work on a yacht, commercial ships and cruise liners the STCW BST certificates are mandatory and essential.
You need a STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate before you apply for a job.
If your STCW BST certificate is expired and older than 5 years you need mandatory Refresher Training.

This course consists of 1 day theory training in our classroom.
The second course day trainees will fight and extinguish actual fires using personal equipment, practical instruction taught by licensed and certified fire fighting professionals.

I did my training in Cowes isle of white. I passed my STCW with immense pride at 49 years of age. I must say it is tough but managed to get the two casualties out with my team in the fire fight course! By far the best thing I have ever done. To be honest I thought sea survival was fantastic too x I think I would rather drown than burn to death ! I have huge respect to all the fire people! I can't go on enough about it xxx
