The last surviving service member of WW1 died in February, 2012. There are no longer any living survivors of the Great War... Gone, but not forgotten.

Imagine yourself in 2016, playing BF1 at the peak of its release, listening to this wonderful piece of music.

Yes, friends, I experienced that moment, and it was unforgettable.

A Macedonian song, sang by a great Turkish woman in Bulgarian. Amazing combination always brings tears to my eyes.

I remember I heard this song when I was in a very dark place. I bursted out crying when I heard this song. I didn’t know what the song was saying but it sounded beautiful. This is the only song that has ever made me cry.

Knowing just how much things change and what happens after ww1, this song really does hit hard.

Permanent change in warfare, the end of the Ottoman empire, the end of the last great caliphate that was the beacon of so much of the Islamic world, the end of the habsburg monarchy, the beginings of the road to the Palestinian-israeli conflict, the radical secularization of Turkey, the beginings of decolonization, big changes in western thought and civilization, the end of the Tsardom of Russia and birth of the Soviet Union, the birth of Yugoslavia, the greater rise of the US, and the general death of the old world.

It truly does feel like a song for the ending of one era, and the beginning of a new.

I'll always remember the time when I first heard this in the main menu. I just sat there... still, stunned and silent. I don't think I've ever had an experience like that before. It was just stupefying to hear such a delicate voice, crying a powerful song in a setting based on the most horrifying, bloodiest war in human history...

Definitely one of the biggest goosebump experiences I've ever had...

this is the peak of gaming music, the most delighful thing my ears have ever heard of soundtracks, their lyrics add more emotion to it, simply perfect

This... this is how you break a man down.

Women, they cry at the end of the movie "Titanic", but men? *Real men, men with a soul of gold, they cry at the end of "the runner"*

What a fucking track. Makes me think of what the soldiers had to go through. Lots of emotion here.

What makes me get emotional when hearing this, is that the Great War is almost never talked about now. The people who fought are being forgotten, and I fear that many decades down the line it'll just be considered another war that was just deadlier than most and will be thought of as less important. And I fear that it'll happen to WW2 as well.

Going back in time to prevent Harambe's assassination, only for him to refuse to be saved (He knows that his sacrifice ensures our timeline can endure)

Thank you to our WWI veterans. Though they may be gone, may we never forget that their sacrifices gave us what we have today.

This music reminds the WW1 Veterans. Huge respect to them that they sacrifised themselves to save the world.
