Forging Resilience: Together, Shattering the Shackles of Crime and Corruption in the Logistic Ind.

Graham Wright, CEO, Business Against Crime South Africa, gave the keynote address at TAPA EMEA’s RESILIENCE IN AFRICA Conference in Johannesburg on 6 March 2024.
His address delved into the crippling effects of crime and corruption on South Africa’s logistics sector and its ripple effects on the national economy. The persistence of these issues poses a dire threat to economic progress and calls for immediate, decisive action from a united front comprising stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society, he said. Dr Wright shed light on the strategic partnership spearheaded by the President, inaugurated in June 2023, which orchestrates a
concerted effort between the government and the business community. This alliance aims to enhance outcomes in pivotal areas: energy, transport and logistics and crucially, crime and corruption, and ultimately to dismantle the destructive forces of crime and corruption.
