This happens all over the globe. Different job, circumstances the same. All deadly. All given a 60-second video. Everyone is very sad, concerned, angry, and an entire range of emotions. Nothing for these people changes. A person dies, another takes their place.

We complain about slavery that happened 400 years ago, when there’s slavery going on today in our world and no one cares.

😢😢😢 poor man. Look how happy he is to be home at the dinner table. He knows what's really important.

Tourists please help them give them money support the locals instead of chain hotels

i hope you pay them for filming or SOMETHING instead of just filming their struggle and making your own money off of it

I hate video's like this. They point at the low (by western standards) salary as if these people are virtually slaves. The median annual household income in Indonesia is ~3, 500$ a year. This miner making 17$ a day would make over 4, 400$ a year (assuming 5 day work week). Which means he is living a middle class lifestyle. Is it hard work, sure. Is it dangerous, maybe. Should more be done to improve safety? Yes.

If you want to see true terror and horror on this man's face, tell him he's losing his job and that it's being done to "help" him.

This volcano, because it has so much sulphur, when it erupts it's lava is a brilliant blue color.

I'm so sorry. I hope they can find better paying jobs somehow and close the mine.

Sulfur is used in the vulcanisation of black rubber, as a fungicide and in black gunpowder. Most sulfur is, however, used in the production of sulfuric acid, which is perhaps the most important chemical manufactured by western civilisations

And people here in N. America have the gall to complain about their work conditions ❗ Those men would trade places with anyone here, in a N.Y. second‼️☹️

What is the purpose or use of the sulfur they are mining?

If they carried four baskets they could double their income.

Men sacrifice every day for their families. That is one of the reasons the average life expectancy is seven years less that a womans. I am surprised that you are surprised in this.

We're trying to build electric car infrastructure and roboticize everything in the UK and USA... I say we should send that tech development to these people so no human has to step into that hellscape ever again. This man could've been a pilot or maintained a sulfur harvesting machine, but the rich folks in the 'developed' countries value their profits over the lives of those providing their base materials. We humans claim to be advanced, but clearly we have a long way to go if we can't help each other for whatever list of excuses the people in comfort come up with. No one deserves what the sulfur and lithium miners have to go through.

They deserve more pay for it but I don’t feel sad, no ons forces them to work in these conditions, they choose it.
