Eating the Alphabet in NYC: V is For ____

preview_player
Показать описание
V is for Vermouth, a type of fortified wine and a key ingredient in a classic martini. The martini was believed to be invented here in NYC at the @theknicknyc at 6 Times Sq, New York, NY 10036. Check out the secret door down in the subway before heading up to the hotel’s bar @stcloudnyc for the perfect martini. Stirred, not shaken (sorry Mr. Bond).

One thing i like about cocktail culture is that the community of people who care about that stuff do their best to give credit to recipe creators. You never see that elsewhere in the food world.

The Knickerbocker Hotel also might be the namesake of the Knickerbocker Glory, a classic British dessert of layered ice cream and other ingredients served in a tall glass with a cherry on top. I’m not sure how it came to cross the pond, but that’s the first thing most Brits will think of when they hear the name Knickerbocker.

I often came across a recipe called knickerbocker glory. I have to look up what it is. Is it related?

I wonder if the inventor's name relates to the town of Arma di Taggia, in the westernmost part of Liguria, Italy, right near the border with France

I live in Torino and some months ago my grandma gave me a bottle of vermouth that right now is lying somewhere in the house. I really don’t like its taste and I’d like to sell it but since it is an alcohol product I can’t 🤔
