As this pandemic wears on, the question of mass psychosis has to come up. To be clear, there are multiple paths that can lead to this result, whether a deep fear of authority or deep fear of the virus. We discuss with Richard Garner.

One of the worst examples of cognitive dissonance is the widespread resistance to the acceptance that millions of psychopaths rule our lives from behind the scenes. As civil society has broken down during the last two years, the behavior of psychopaths has become much easier to see, yet people still refuse to believe this exists. The problem is that people believe what they WANT to believe, no matter how far removed it may be from reality.

As the co-author of two books* with a teaching hospital psychiatrist on the topic of victimization and the mind-brain system, I commend you for such a well-balanced presentation aimed at helping us understand that there is another underlying psychological process amplifying the social divide not only on C-o-v-i-d, but on other contentious social topics as well. What has given the former more power than the latter in the last year and a half is both the amount of round-the-clock news attention this topic has received, and the potential existential implications it represents. Few topics have such a mutually-reinforcing positive feedback loop. In speaking with a friend of German heritage a couple of days ago, she reported that one of her elderly aunts in Germany who lived through the Second World War in Nazi Germany, said that the psychological stress she is experiencing because of C-o-v-i-d is greater than the stress she felt during the Second World War. I am very ashamed to say that at the beginning I fell for it. Then, in 2020 my beautiful mother died, NOT of covid. They wrote covid on her death certificate and that's when I woke up. It has taken me a year to make them remove the word covid from her death certificate.

This makes so much sense. After witnessing the black lives matters movement the me too movement the all children matter movement I was wondering how did people allow these atrocities to take place but I now understand how it happens. Mass psychosis.

There are greater factors at play than psychology and philosophy, though these are very good rational interpretations and analyses.
If only these were the exclusive factors. As things have been moving forward an actual evil is being seen to be at work, at minimum it's sensed. This is what polarizes the views. Both sides feel they're fighting for their lives.
Setting a good example helps others to calm down. Thankfully the data are now showing the reality but at a high price because many had to lose their lives.
