Sir, why can we apply the chain rule for an ordinary derivative when attempting to take the partial derivative? I am quite lost on this subject as I have learned there are only 2 chain rules for 2 different cases for partial differentiation. I don't understand how we can just substitute u in and then find the partial derivative to be the ordinary derivative of F wrt to U multiplied by the derivative of u wrt x. I don't see this formula in my textbook for the multivariable portion
