In this video I am going to show you a simple technique that I used with my 1/48th scale F4U Corsair dashboard so it can look awesome.
It's not cheating to use 3d printed decals to spice up yor cockpits but I prefer to do in myself.

The paint detail is phenomenal, you should be very proud of your work.

Yes, painting and detailing the cockpit is usually my favorite part of the build!

That looks great bro', you got excellent results... Extreme detailing without the extreme work I love it...

Great tutorial, Metodi. Personally, I find it more realistic and closer to the real instrument panels you see in old photos.

Love these videos, short and to the point but well explained! For me, I prefer to leave the color decal in place, adding a subtle coat of paint to the instrument panel to vary the color 👍

Looks great! If you wanted to take it a step further, I've seen people drop a bit of clear resin mix into each instrument.

What paint/brand did you use for the transparent amber on the dials? It looks great, and I want to try that effect on some scale homemade computer terminals.

That does look more realistic to me, I agree that alot of the prepaited parts are not always desirable, in many cases the paint on these pre painted parts is bumpy and distorted!

I love the finish and techniques but wow I couldn’t trust myself enough to do this 😅

Impressive. So cool! Have you ever tried using pre-made random instrument panel decals? I have yet to do so. Just wondering if anyone has done so?

That looks awesome. I never really thought about the aging gauges. Your technique perfectly replicates the look. I love those 3D gauges but you don’t need them. Modeling is getting like RC, you have to invest so much money it becomes less fun.

I agree completely. 3d is awesome... but it is another step from traditional model making. Is it a step too far? I dont know. I had the same concern when photo-etch came out and now I use it semi-often.
