Love mine. I upgraded from the Genmitsu 3018. Put on the makita router and made a T-track spoil board. I don't use the software supplied by Sainsmart. I use Fusion, Easel, Lightburn. You do have to use a computer to operate, but they will be coming out with an offline controller.

A big shoutout to Jerry Knapp at 3DHP who pointed out that I had put my spoilboard on upside down!! Thanks for the correction Jerry! I will make that adjustment! The bolts should be countersunk! @3DHP

I started my CNC journey on their 3018-Prover model. I then upgraded the size to a 3030 and bought the laser attachment. Their customer service is great and might take a few days to get back but had no problems replacing parts if there was an issue for free. Overall, I still use it for small laser needs as I have upgraded to a Stepcraft M1000 with an Automatic Tool Changer with vacuum table. Anyways, great channel I also learned from your clock video.

I have a 4040 and the only complaint I had was the supplied spindle. I upgraded to a 800 watt with a VFD and this machine does a fantastic job.

I have this one too. I bought it with the spindle mount upgrade for my Makita router. Works great!

I was considering this machine but good to know about the missing controller and the Z-probe plug in area. I would have laptop to use but a controller is much better.

They say on it's specs it's still based on grbl so it should work on any software (eg Candle) that supports grbl. That would be just a matter of adding BT module on TX/RX pins on main board to remove wires and drive it from phone / tablet / PC with BT support (there are many grbl / gcode senders on android that support HC05/HC06 modules). I've done that for my laser and custom built cnc, now I need only power supply and tablet in around ~5m from hardware devices.
For 4040 from review, I'd say that 775 spindle is not best, it has 5mm shaft which is not really sturdy as it should be for cnc, other than that is look promising for really good entry level cnc.

I owned a 4030 before buying my Onefinity Woodworker X50. The Genmitsu is the perfect entry drug to the world of CNC. Great machine other than the spindle, upgraded to a Makita and all was good. I did have a problem with the y axis, great customer support fixed it with a new cable.

I have this CNC and a couple of observations that are not covered anywhere need to be mentioned.

First those small metal plate clamp down items, like them or not, are included but the instructions don’t tell you how to use them. Like this review demonstrates without prior experience many people will assemble the hold downs in correctly. All the pieces are included but the threaded post with wing nut, and washer go through the slot of the plate into the spoil board threaded inserts. A flat head bolt threads into the threaded hole and acts as a Jack against the table to control the angle of the plate.

The 2nd thing to mention is the off line controller for this machine is more than a simple cheap off line control, like 3018 CNC’s come with. The connection has 12 pins not 8 like cheaper CNC machines use. Many additional features, well worth having.

I bought one and upgraded it with a 800 watt liquid cooled spindle, So much better now than the standard setup. And handles much larger bits with no problems or deflection.

Thank you very much for this review. I'm just looking for one of these for my home. Tell me what you would take in the budget up to $ 1500

Hi! Do you think it is possible to make small detailed pieces such as a 75mm height chess knight with the rotary axis? Thanks.

To use in your shop get the controller attachment and save your NC files to SD card from your PC the run the machine in your shop from the controller.

$650 and it uses ball screws, not too bad. Time will tell if it holds up but it looks well made. It didn't take 12 hours to assemble like others do.
