This ice cream is better than store bought.

3 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
1cp sugar
Stir out lumps
Add 2.5 cps milk
Stir up real good
Cook medium heat, 20 minutes
Beat 2 eggs
Add some hot custard to the eggs to temper, whisk well
Place egg mixture in custard pot & cook for 1.5 minutes
Chill custard for 2.5 hrs.
In a bowl 2 cps whipping cream
Add flavoring of you choice (watch minute 11:40)
Add custard to bowl
Place in ice cream maker

I was very young when my grandmother passed away so I didn't have any family members to teach me how to cook some good southern dishes. I've tried a couple of your recipes and my family enjoyed every bite. Remember how they would hide the sugar in the bottom of the cedar chest. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and know how in providing nutritious and delicious meals for our families.

I love the concept about how ice cream is made with custard being the base, easy for me since I make a lot of banana puddings, but what I do not like is that particular ice cream maker. I have a Quisinart and do not have to do all that with layers upon layers of salt and ice and the noise, but hey, Grandma did a fabulous job in showing how she does it her way. Kudos to her! The end result looked wonderful & yummy! 😋

When I was a kid, my dad would hand crank the ice cream freezer. He would let me and my sister take turns sitting on it, so It wouldn't move. She and i would fight over who got to sit on it.
For me when i had kids, i had one like yours. Every summer i would make ice cream.. it's been a long time since then . I'm 79 years old now, but i wish i had a freezer, I would try your recipe. Thank you for a great video. I wish you were nextdoor so we could visit. God Bless you

Thank you so much for showing how to make real homemade ice cream. I'm 68 years old and when I was a little kid I remember my dad making homemade ice cream I knew he was cooking part of it on the stove but I was too young to know what he was putting in it. I'm the youngest of six kids my job was to sit on top of the ice cream churn why one of my four older brothers took turn turning the handle. My dad used to make the best lemon ice cream and when it was done he crushed up a handful of those sugar-coated lemon drops and stirred them in it. Yummy!
