It was the immediate comparison I made upon my first time seeing her sing which is on the tiny desk concert for sure she has her own style but it's hard to unsee.

She definitely looks like her. The winged eye make up adds to that too. But she sounds nothing like Amy. Her voice is completely different to Amy's and her music is completely different too. Amy was already an old soul when she was born ! Amy just 'knew' all about that old music. It was in her to begin with. It was almost like she didnt have to learn about what went before her . . . she had already come from that time, in the first place. All old souls have lived it before.

When I first listened to the lyrics of escapism, I thought to myself, it was the most raw writing. I had heard since Amy Winehouse. Then, when I went to look at her online, it was eerie how similar the two are in more ways than just writing.

Their accents sound similar (London), plus a similar style of vocals/genre makes it impossible not to hear some crossover there.

Raye is her own artist, and she is the first artist I have put in the same stratosphere as Amy since Amy died.

It’s not a comparison. Raye is wildly talented and deserves the credit due for that!

I love Raye. And I love Amy. I personally feel they are similar in that they are both very unique artists, they are both incredibly talented, super creative and one of a kind acts. But vocally and musically, no one can really compare to Amy. Like Raye said…Amy was on her own separate top tier level. She was truly legendary 🥰

Oh I love Raye and I love Amy. They are both individuals and both have great voices. There may be similarities but that is it. HOWEVER, they should have chosen her for the role for the Amy biop film, just saying.

I'm surprised they didn't cast her for the film that's coming up. She sounds like her, and she sings like her, and most importantly, she looks like her. The girl they have is talented, but nah

Just heard her on SNL and first off she's spectacular! and she most definitely hits some notes that sounds very similar to Amy Winehouse! After I heard her sing, I specifically did the search, "Raye, Amy Winehouse" soooo there you go!

Similarities are they are both down to earth, both true jazz singers who never sing a song exactly the same way twice. They both like to experiment and mix genres…looks wise I don’t see it, but Raye does have that vintage style going on that Amy loved.
Want else? Both unassuming, humble and unaware of just how talented they are/were.
Voice wise though, the tone and timbre could hardly be more different….why are people looking for the ‘new Amy Winehouse’ anyway, there can only ever be one, just as there can only be one Raye.

They are alike but Raye is original enough to not fall into a copy cat lane. Both very talented ladies
