Thanks for the comparison Jon. Anthem makes a very nice product. Howerver, our family would not consider this manufacturer for one huge reason...no Auro 3D codec. We are addicted to this format. The Auromatic upmixer is amazing for ANY source. You just can't beat it for immersive listening. To compare, just turn off your floor amps only leaving the height speakers playing. It's just that good.

Have you done any physical A/B comparisons of the audio reproduction via Music of the AVR MXR DACS to the AVR AVM series DACs?

AVM 70 Series for me as I have 2 subs and a 5.2.4 Denon 4500 receiver and Emotiva LRC amps. Great update.

Very informative and structured presentation. Just what I've been looking for. I'm seriously considering the AVM70 to replace my aging Marantz AV7702mkii but I'm starting to see them appear on review sites and hearing ARC Genesis is still not working That along with the official specs still not being available on the Anthem site have me concerned as I've never owned an Anthem product and wonder why they would release half-baked hardware.

Well the Anthem AVM70 is a very nice unit when mine was working for a month. The auto
update worked but mine "glitched" on the firmware auto update and does
not turn on anymore. Anthem will warranty it but I have been (since
4-23-2021) trying to get the papers from Anthem on the RMA but emails
& phone calls are becoming no response on emails or Covid 19 recordings on the phone que.
Warranty maybe an issue here guys? While it worked I had all 15.2
working and it sounded amazing. Anthem told me it would be 4 to 6 weeks
for this to be fixed but I have already lost another week just trying to
get the paper work returned to me?

As you, I am wondering what the real difference between the AVM-70 and AVM-90 besides the two additional sub outs and the higher rated DACs is. Does the updated circuitry make the processor audibly better by the factor of 2, as the price difference might suggest?

You made a mistake with the specs on the 720. I believe that was a 7 channel unit not 11 channel. It could expand up to 11 with external amp.

fantastic news! I always wanted an Anthem receiver! I need to set up a 5.2.4 atmos home theatre. Can the 740 do 4 atmos channels or is it limited to 2 channels as in the 720? thanks so much
