Watching your entry on OSFirsttimer of this machine when I was younger and your mission of maining it has always inspired me to achieve the same with close to full driver support but on a newer somewhat more capable system after seeing the dreadful playback lag at anything higher than 240p when streaming off YouTube even during all those years ago. Decided to buy myself a Dell XPS laptop with a Core 2 Duo awhile ago at my local marketplace that I was able to successfully downgrade using hybrid 2000/XP drivers, and have even written a short guide for on Vogons with links to those drivers in which I was able to find for it; that machine is able to play YouTube videos at 720p with only some noticeable lag at most while being able to play games from upto ~2008 besides select indie titles.
