How Well Does Final Fantasy XV Pocket HD Run On The Nintendo Switch?

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD was released yesterday on the Nintendo Switch after also releasing on the PS4 and Xbox One. This is currently the only version available on the Switch as the full Final Fantasy XV has still not been ported and appears that it may never be. Today we're taking a quick look at the game and how it runs on the Switch.

Honestly, I really dig this version of XV. I have the main game, but this just feels more approachable for replaying and such. It really reminds me of the DS Remakes of FF III and IV

If Final fantasy pocket addition HD was the only final fantasy released, that would be inexcusable, but man they literally released the motherload of Final Fantasy games. It’s only because of this that it’s somewhat excusable to release this pocket edition game

Watched a review that said frame rate problems were also on the ps4 version. Probably a game side problem.

So far I am enjoying this game. It feels a bit easier than my memory of past ff games but the art style is reminiscent of ff3 /4 ds. I like the art style.

From the small example of stutter i saw in this video it looked like it could just be what happens when the 'slo-mo' effect triggers during certain animations (perhaps ones that don't have quite as many animation frames) and not necessarily a performance issue. I'd like to play this on my switch soon though so I guess i'll find out eventually.

This looks like the engine they used to make games like I am Setsuna. I’m kinda struggling to understand how making a simpler version of FFXV on a different engine is supposed to offset the cost of production incurred for creating the luminous engine in the first place...

I never got to play this game on my mobile so I am happy that they added this to the Switch and I am watching my son play it and it looks good in my opinion. I do admit framerate fowl up from time to time but it still works pretty well. They will probably fix it down the road like they have done with most the games. I like it and looks like fun so I can't wait to play it so I am letting my son enjoy playing it for a while and I also like that it plays just like the original one from the Playstation version. I also can't wait until the other Finl Fantasy games come out to the Switch to see what kind of a job they did to the FF7 remake as well as the other ones as well.
