definitely going for a 7000 series for this reason. There's a ton of old glass I can get off of eBay to save money and still have great images. Thanks for pointing this out!

you didn't mention 7100 and 7200 is weather shield.

Another reason would be the AF fine tune capability that the 5xxx series bodies don't have. This wasn't an issue until it happened to me with a D5300. The AF on my 50mm f1.8G was out by a significant fraction and if I'd had the 7100 I could have adjusted it myself. I couldn't with the 5300

I'm only a starter in photography and deciding which one to buy the d7200 or the d5500 I was leaning towards the d5500 because I'm only a starter but I take more photos than videos which one do I get?

Another awesome video! For me, I don't have any older lenses, so I would definitely benefit more from the dual command dials. I had the D3200 and made the jump to the D810, I LOVE the dual command dials. I can't go back.

Had my D5500 for a month. Had to do street photography and there was rain showers every 10 minutes which resulted in me covering the camera instead of taking photos. I'm selling it now and i ll be buying a D7200. Keep this in mind if you like to be free when shooting on streets or wildlife ;)

Hi Matt, i am upgrading from a Coolpix P530 bridge camera and i am undecided between the D5500 and the D7100 (i have a £550 budget for the body) and i want the best AF system for my budget but videos aren't a issue, i do mostly still but some sports photography, i would like your opinion between the D5500 and the D7100. could you manually use other older lenses on a D5500 cos I prefer the vari-angle screen which the D7200 needs! lol

I love the d7200, but with the 18-105 kit lens it is so slow on focusing especially on indoor with small amount of lyt. i want to see the full potential of the camera. Plss help to choose from
1. Nikkor 16-35 f4 vr
2. Sigma 18-35 1.8 but no vc
3. Tamron 15-30 2.8 vc
4. Tamron 24-70 2.8 vc
5. Nikkor 24-120 f4 vr
Or do u any lens recomendation to choose for?

I think it is just a amtter of time before Niokon Will remove completely the mecanic possicilty for older lens. -canon did it rapidly in 80's nikon is doing gradually now.

Question! I have a 5100 with the 200-500 lens shooting mostly wildlife and action. My problem is I need a low light camera and the 7200 is advertised as a low light camera. So which is the best low light camera the 7100 or the 7200.

I've been in dilemma lately because d5500 and d7200 have similar feature especially the megapixel and expeed 4, but after matt mention about motor in d7200 while d5500 didnt have that, im leaning towards more on d7200 now.
