As a 12v owner myself 🙋🏻‍♂️ … I must say that the 12v cold start is way cooler than the 24v

I have to admit. I love the sound of the 24v. Because I have one, I love it. The 12v I love the growl.

those transmissions have a 60, 000 mile service maintenance requirement of adjusting the bands. its in the service manual. most people don't do that and think their tranny is going when it slips. it needs adjustment.. lol

I've got an idea. Giveaway the truck, a trailer, and a lawnmower. It could be a business setup Giveaway. Just a thought.

Love my 2nd gen Cummins 600 HP @ the wheels, and just replaced the VP 44 (2nd pump in 25 years of ownership)

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Dodge as much as I am Ford and Chevy but from my experiences it seems that to an extent, the outsourced drivetrain is the only good part of the truck. not hating on Dodge, I've got a lot I can complain about from all three brands lol

Right about the vp44 an lift pump. Put a bottom sump an 1 /2 fuel line. Through bred vp44 are great and fass lift pump all set ready to go

Mr Clean would look way better without those rapper wheels

you forgot to mention the 53 blocks on the 24 valves that the casting is thin an some of them and they crack and leak coolant.

The change of sulfur levels in diesel absolutely killed the fuel systems on the 24 valve. I don’t blame Dodge they just got caught up

As someone who worked in Oakland, I can't stand seeing my farm boys and ranchers putting oakland'esk rims on TRUCKS. Drives me NUTS.

I had a 1997 1500 (so before the '98 refresh) and I can 100% confirm, the dashboard was TERRIBLE. One day the radio just fell out. The cupholder also came out eventually, there was just nothing left after a time.

I would replace the rusting frame issue (common to any vehicle in the rust belt) with the stock, Gen 2 steering issues, but everything else is spot on.

We have a ‘94 Auto and an ‘01 6-speed, quad cab in the family. Both long beds and 4x4. 172K and 411K miles, respectively. Love them both, but would really like a P-pump on the ‘01.

Finally, eliminated oil leaks on the ‘01 with a speedy sleeve and seal on the crank nose, a Keating machine tappet cover, a Cummins vacuum pump reseal kit and a Red Head steering box. Good bye automatic rust proofing and kitty litter on the shop floor.

The ‘01 also has Gen 3, 14” brakes (17” wheels), Gen 4, T-style tie rod, adjustable track bar, Borgesen high volume power steering pump, Thuren front springs and EMF ball joints. It stops, steers and tracks like a new truck.

The ‘94 (bought new) has a built 47RH, the KDP fix, fuel plate, slightly bigger injectors and one ton rear wheel cylinders. Almost stock, but good light duty, daily driver, with better brakes and “gitty up” better than stock.

Many more fixes and improvements on both. Great trucks, both clean and easy to maintain compared to PS or DM powered trucks.

Yeah the frames don’t fall apart it’s age and location in Texas they almost all have the paint still on the at least 35-70% paint coverage just depending if the owner let the truck set with mud on it or not

My dad has a 2002 extended cab king bed six speed manual with 96, 000 miles on it. It drives me nuts it’s just been sitting outside for 12 years :(

I got lucky with the KDP on my truck. When it happened it just ejected itself out of the cover into my crank postion sensor. Some JB welf fixed that hole and she runs smooth to this day.

Okay I live in the rust belt (upper Illinois) and ive owned two 2nd gens. The first was a 1995 with the 5.9 magnum, and the other is a 2001 with the 24v. ON NIETHER OF MY TRUCKS NOR ANY OTHER 2nd Gen ive seen up here, has EVER has a bad frame. Sure, theres some rusty ass ones. But never close to "falling apart"
I have NO idea where your getting that from. "theyre just KNOWN for falling apart" buddy, where?

One thing I hate about my 2g Cummins. Is that, I don't have 1. I hate that!

Unfortunately, 90% of the issues you addressed are problems all the way up to the 4th gens.. posssibly even the 5th gens but it’s not a common issue yet! My 3rd gen dash is fucked, has a built tranny after learning the hard way acouple times, front end doesn’t have a Chrysler part in the front end, frame has been fully redone etc
