I agree. The butterfly ones LOOK realistic, as well as movement and behavior. I was disappointed in the fireflies jar, as it looks NOTHING like a firefly: it's a green lady-bug looking thing with blue-spotted wings! DOES look convincing when it's moving, maybe more so at night.
The butterflies DO come in different species/colors, look great in DAYLIGHT and at REST, unlike the lone firefly option.
So...
Butterflies: A+
Fireflies: C (okay, C+, but only because it DOES look real in the dark!)

I have actual fireflies where I live and they DO not look like that in the day time. They are also very serene, they don't bounce around they kind of just drift.

Now, as an actual comment, this firefly reminds me of the fairies in Ocarina of Time. Except for the body. Theres a product challenge for you, remake this, but a little larger and with the light bit as the body. BAM! You got a fairy in a bottle. I'd buy that.

The fireflies I've seen are much more serene than that one. I think the butterfly works better. It's a pity. I'd love an authentic looking firefly in a jar.

That would be expensive with the whole crew....the jar would be humongous...like an aquarium, then you need a midnight blue background and flashing stars....
