Your videos have so few views I almost think it's criminal. They're so informative while still being short and easy to understand. These videos are the best crash course in "insert technology here" I've seen in a long time. Maybe not that good if you want a deep dive in the technology, but damn is it ever good for beginners. I know a fair bit about audio tech and you still manage to teach me something I did not know before. Good job! I'll share this YT channel to my friends when the time comes.

As someone who tries to keep a tight reign on my music budget, hybrids have been a godsend for me. I used to have an Alesis Multimix firewire mixer that sent 8 separate channels, which I used for both live and recording. I replaced that with a Behringer 1820 audio interface that I've been able to use for both too (although nothing beats having the proper channel strips to help you fix problems fast live).

For me, when I'm working on an Analog Mixing, use a Mixer (especially on Mixer that doesn't have a USB Output), use the Audio Interface when you are dealing with Digital Mixing because all of the effects, mixing and recording can be done by a computer.

For beginners or on a budget Home recording that has a good enough Computer, I recommend buying an Audio Interface (the number of input and outputs depends on your need) but if you are dealing with huge events like concerts etc. use Mixers because it is inconvenient to route and mix all of your Inputs in the Laptop.

I hope this will help...

My mixer (Allen & Heath, ZED 14 FX) has a USB connector (USB B). Doesn‘t that mean I can directly plug it in to the computer and record at least the Stereo Out signal into the DAW?

There are also mixers such as Soundking Signature MTK which is regular analog mixer but each channel has separate USB channel, thus recording is not mixed in stereo. IMHO very great value compared to same amount of inputs interface

The Behringer xair has served me decently well for both live and studio applications. Every input records on separate channels with the USB, you've also got the main outs, and depending on the model a good few aux outs too. My only real complaints are that the app can be a bit of a pain to learn, and some of the ins and outs might go out after a few years of abuse, but I'd recommend it for a relatively cheap, good quality, and versatile interface/mixer.

Hey, asked this question on your other video also. I would like to capture videos directly to my iPhone of me playing guitar with a backing track playing over top. Don’t really want to fuss around with recording audio and video separately, just quick, YouTube shorts. I’m assuming a mixer would be best for? I was thinking of my guitar into one input, an iPhone, playing a backing track in another, output to my iPhone, and just shoot.

Thanks, I was wondering about sound. Is It better, soundwise, to record with the EQ? In this case probably better with mixer, ( dont they also come with a sound that adds some atmosphere to the recording?) also in a home studio...

Hey just a quick question I am new to basic home music recording, is it better sound quality if we use both interface and mixer at the same time? thank you

would be gr8 if you can do an extreme bass enhancer to audio mixer video so I can dust off and connect this brand new equipment before they go obsolete.

With the audio mixer, do you still need preamps for the dynamic mics like you would with the scarlet 2i2 3rd gen?
