How does the camera detected when the car is in reverse?

Everybody knows how to plug in connectors and stick things to windows. Nobody knows how to connect the red wire to the reverse light which is different in every car. They make i t sound simple but offer no videos or examples of this step.

In this setup, the "backup" camera is always on whether the car is in park, drive or reverse. No difference than a rear dash cam camera and no guide lines showing up to help you when backing up to park. If you want it to kick in only when backing up and include guide lines, you have to install it around the trunk area so you can attached the red backup wire to your backup light's wire. You can also leave it there inside the rear wind shield but you will have to figure out which is the backup wire to connect it to and possibly extend the wire to reach it.

This is fine if you want to do regular back of your car camera, which I have, but how specifically do you hook it up so it automatically kicks in when you put it in reverse?

My CarPlay unit did not come with a rear view camera. Will it wourk with any camera, such as a Thinkpad one from my old dash cam?

I installed the camera, but when in reverse, it only shows the CarPlay box camera not the backup camera

I installed the CarPlayBox, hooked it, and when I put the car in reverse, only the park lines appear on the screen.
So, CarPlayBox is getting feed from the rear camera, but no picture.
What do I do?

Is there a way to flip the camera image? In reverse, the video shows, but it’s not a mirror image, so using it to revers is backwards. Thanks.

Hi, are the guidelines options for reverse cameras only as good as the camera they come with or is it possible to install better apps to use with the camera in android? I would like an app that has better adjustment for the red danger line and curves when parking into a car park parking bay at an angle. Thanks!

Neat video but in the instructions says the camera goes on the license plates area, requires a drill as well it says.

why did you not show how to splice the cord to make the camera work?

I thought this was really cool but after thinking about it how the hell are you supposed to connect the reversing wires from way up on the inside of the rear view window 😮

How is the camera powered? What triggers the camera to play.?

Back up camera needs to be hooked up to your reverse light. You have to drill a hole in your trunk to feed the camera to your trunk and to your CarPlay device.

My car already has a backup camera. I guess I'll just install the rear one to record.
