I interviewed the Lordstown Motors CEO to find out that our funeral arrangements for this electric truck brand have been premature. Plus, my guest, the writer at autoevolution Gustavo Ruffo will help me figure out if this is yet another Tesla rival.

Hi, Alex the truck looks like a storm trooper truck from star wars pretty cool 😎

My brand loyalty has been killed off by all the OEMs over the years. Loyalty is a two-way street. Today only Tesla stands out to me with some modicum of customer loyalty. As far as pickup trucks go, I'm Ford person in the ICE world. In the EV world for trucks, I don't yet have a preference. I'm waiting for the dust to settle. People do a lot of talk. I'll wait to figure this out when people come through with production.

This guest appears seriously out of date. Great interview with Ford CEO on MUNRO live.
He understands that Tesla having production issues is not like others. Tesla needs to generate enough batteries (4680) for 1, 000, 000+ vehicle production run rate. The others can barely dream of such volumes. The 4680 production volume by this fall would suffice to supply GM and FORD for the next year. The cybertruck has advantages which will only be understood once it is used. Very strong stainless steel (from SpaceX) which Sandy Munro explained well (now I know where WD40 came from!), an exoskeleton, 9000 ton casting sub frame units, ALON (transparent aluminium) windshield (from SpaceX) which will basically never break or scratch.

Wasn’t up early enough to join this live this week, but loved watching it afterwards! Hope you’re having a great time in Vegas and thanks as always 😁

Nice video. Are you going to post the full 20 minutes interview anytime in future?

Alex, sounds like a chipotle with avocado is a main feeder of this channel, ha-ha)

With Rivian R1T, Ford F150, GM Hummer (and the Silveroto out soon) the truck market is getting packed. Which the Cybertruck odd design may allow for it to get a real niche. But I don't see truck domance a thing anymore.

Selling the factory is the ultimate in outsourcing. Maybe OK in the short term.

I disagree with 3 wheel vehicles at least in the case of Aptera because it's functionally an efficient 2 seat hatchback commuter car with the best efficiency and lowest environmental impact out there.

love your channel, EV is not just about the few big players

Why is CCAN not available in CA? It says on their site that if you are in CA, you cannot buy a ticket.

The problem with the bill is, car makers can't even get batteries or materials, so they sure can't be picky about where they get them from!

I feel so bad for pre order folks but there's hope on the horizon.

He makes a good point re source materials in US via recycling. Problem is, the key competent recyclers are already committed to Tesla, GM, Ford and others. Literally no material will be left for this and other small businesses.

Without a doubt, my big question is how long wheel based motors will last. To my knowledge no one knows this.
Add the fact that trucks must be rugged to handle the rough roads found “off road” and on construction sites.
Pickup trucks take a beating and that is after the suspension has done its job! These motors, which require precision co centric operation will be part of the unsprung part of the truck. A car may make sense but under rugged operation, this is quite a challenge.

Frankly, I think the Lordstown truck looks good, although the F-150 Lightning is better looking. I find the Silverado ugly, but it has great specs.

I agree, I really like the way the Lordstown Motors truck looks. I also agree the Fisker took the smartest route.

Wheel hub motors were invented in the early 1900s by Dr. Porsche... Hopefully the technology has matured

Yes I do like the look of the Lordstown Endurance, Storm Trooper-esque, but I worry about the wheel hub motor technology in a big, heavy truck. They make sense for a smaller, lighter ecobox, but for a high performance truck? Don’t know…

Hi Alex, love your shows and congrats on the interview with new LTM ceo. Disappointing that they will only be selling to commercial users, therefore not sure I would have spent most of this show on them.
