There are different techniques to frost glass, and this video has tutorials for three simple methods; vinyl, spray paint and a cream etch. Each technique has it's own specific use and can be scaled from small decorative crafts to large DIY projects.
Frosted glass is a subtle look, that fits in to many décor styles. Whether your home vibe is modern, traditional, contemporary farmhouse or an eclectic mix you call yours, a frosted piece can fit right in! Each of these techniques is completely different from the other and they all have pros and cons. But they all are easy enough to tackle with basic DIY skills.
I was so impressed with the frosted spray paint - the result looks store bought! You can take boring and transform it into inspiring without breaking the bank. These techniques are wallet friendly with a profession, high end result. We test the durability and ease of removal for the spray paint -- this makes it a renter friendly home DIY idea.
And if you want something that can withstand the outdoor elements, the glass etch gets washed in the sink and looks great. You can create some personalized decor pieces for your patio or porch. The etch cream is not only permanent, but once you wash it, the finish is food safe. This makes it great for casserole dishes and glassware. And you can make great personal gifts.
The vinyl was tricky to apply - and then we 'lost' the video....or someone forgotten to hit the record button...technical glitches are to be expected - we still have so much to learn with content creating and YouTube. We're working on it! Ralph created an image to have applied to the server rack, the brains of our smart home. This is what we used frosted vinyl technique on.
Ralph and I both have our favourite techniques - and they aren't the same one! But we both agreed on which is our least favourite. Hope you are inspired to try out one of this yourself!
