As someone who doesn't even have a 4K monitor this annoucement does nothing for me, I don't like mid-generation upgrades and the prices are getting ridiculous here in Brazil

I don't really get why the PS5 Pro would interest people other than yuppies at this point. Sony is loosing its grip on creating incentives to be on the platform. In general I think all companies have lost focus on what a games console should be; A cheap entry point into gaming. The PS5 is already a premium device that hasn't dropped in price. And there's no incentives to buy into Sony's ecosystem unless you have friends on PSN.

There are barely any games that even exploit the power of base PS5. Why would we need a Pro?

Dual Sense originally 7.000¥, now 11.000¥. Insanity. We’re getting paid in Yen, not in Dollar. 80.000¥ is for me the same as 800$ for someone living and getting paid in the US.
PS5 Pro without disc drive 100.000¥ and with disc drive 120.000¥?
Yeah, won’t be buying that.

Funniest thing, Nintendo meanwhile always has Switch sitting at 33.000¥ for the Standard and the Oled model at 38.000¥. Same price since release as it should be. People like to talk shit about Nintendo being anti consumer and in some cases they are but Sony raising prices like this in Japan and also worldwide is completely insane and a direct answer to Xbox failing completely and basically giving up.
Dark times ahead if Sony doesn’t have a real competitor..

Hopefully they will actually support it with major 1st party upgrades to their games along with some 3rd parties like Square with Rebirth. I want 4k visuals with 60 fps to be the standard or bust in order to be an actual upgrade.

I’m not judging the system preemptively but don’t be surprised if the presentation is like Nyquil in video form just like the PS4 Pro presentation was or the tech specs presentation for the base PS5.

Not a hardware expert on these systems (None of us really are despite those claim otherwise) But it's really weird to me considering that like 90% of the PS5's library has to account for the PS4. I feel like a real "PS5 exclusive" has yet to truly exist, thus the idea of a "PS5 Pro" sounds absurd to me. GTA VI's trailer, to me, looked like the first true glimpse into a game that is "Not possible" On last gen from my eyes. At least going off of that trailer, perhaps a lot of that is misleading and not actual gameplay. But I digress, If game development takes this long and Sony realistically could not commit to to the PS5 full time due to the shortages or whatever reason, I don't see how they can realistically support a PS5 Pro enough for it justify it's value. What is going to get me to care about it when most games still look like they're just juiced up PS4 titles?

3:00 One of the whole draws of the PS5 Pro will be PSSR, their upscaling tech. So I'd argue we're about to get less native 4k!
