Interesting video Omni, you have a very interesting perspective on the whole movie theater crisis going on and I like how you remain optimistic while also cautious.

Havent finished the video yet but watching a movie in the theater beats the hell out of watching it in tv. Viewers dont have to deal with all of the ads.

Live-action theater is still a thing,
Opera is still a thing,
books are still a thing,
radio is still a thing... I'm pretty confident in movie theaters

I feel like the Theater Experience will never really die, it has its own subculture.

I miss going to the movies. Watching at home is just not the same. They'd be better off (even w/ this present plague) if Hollywood just start making movies that weren't utter crap.

Some movie theatres are apparently opening up right now, if not actual theatres, drive-ins (which i believe is the much safer option, since people aren't so close to each other), so honestly, i think they'll survive. At least i'm hoping they will.

Ticket prices have to be factored in as well. When movie theaters open up, but with only say the 25% capacity that they are allowed, will they be able to survive? With that option, me thinks they will have to jack up the price (and going to the movies was already expensive to begin with).

its true, my anniversary is in May. Last year my wife took me to see Godzilla for my anniversary and got us a baby sitter. Pretty sure I know what I'm doing for my anniversary next year. <3

You know what I would love, a remote viewing party. Rather than have friends come over, just to do a watch2gether for a newly released movie. Great way to connect with friends and put in commentary for thoughts, or even just cheer on the protagonist whilst having a few drinks with friends online.

Radiodrome did this topic a few weeks ago and pointed out how the increase cost of insurance for making movies could out an end to low budget movies. One company said that they will only insure a movie, if the entire cast and crew isolate for three weeks before and after filming.

The major studios could afforded that, but the middle and low budget, indy studios can't. So we could end up with boring, cookie-cutter, Disney garbage for the next three years.

Movie Theaters have shut down and reopened just fine before, I can't see why they wouldn't again.
9:57 Fair god dang point, it's really common here in the south.

That’ll suck because we won’t get any big blockbuster movies anymore

Pretty sure there were people in the 80s who thought movie theaters were going to die because of vcrs and movie rental stores.

I think seeing the movies in the theaters as a limited edition to a degree.

Pretty good observations but I disagree on the whole "event experience "-showing extra content like cartoons etc, along with what you came to see. On the contrary, I see theaters rushing the experience to get you in & out asap, so they can disinfect everything, before the nxt showing. Not sure whats gonna become of the theatre experience, but I welcome movies starting on the dot, without the 15 min of upcoming crap " trailers ", most could care less about.

That’s all fine and good, but do you think that traditional tv is going to be replaced by streaming services?
