I'm a huge fan of monthly or "regular" savings accounts. They're great for people putting money aside every month, and they also tend to have some of the highest interest rates!

But people do tend to get confused about just how much money they'll save, so this video takes you through just how they work, as well as ways to use them alongside other savings accounts to maximise your return.

I use regular savers to build up savings. They really are ace - you set up a monthly direct debit once the wages come in and it presents like a bill. I.e. when doing math for the month it is one of the ‘bills’ alongside the rent/mortgage, power, internet etc.

Hi Andy, what about saving accounts where interest is paid monthly? My understanding is (lets say it’s 0.04% interest) and I put £1, 000.00 to that account - I’ll have £1, 040.00 after first month. And then (let’s say I don’t transfer anything more into it) £1, 081.60 after the second month? Not just £1, 040.00 after 12months…?

Can I transfer £1000 into my NatWest digital regular savings account straight away to get 3% interest or do I have to do it monthly with low amounts?

Sorry your rate is wrong it is 2.75% not 2.85% please correct on the regular savers!
