Not your ordinary geocaching!! This is a real treasure hunt. If you’ve seen the episodes of Expedition Unknown: The Secret, you’ll know exactly where I’m going with this. If you haven’t, I’m happy to introduce to you to an obsession for many.

There are countless websites over the years that are dedicated to this treasure hunt. Out of 12 buried treasures, only 3 have been found. But I’m from New York and so is the publisher, Byron Preiss.

My Dad and I worked endlessly to figure out where this treasure could be. It has led us across three Burroughs, a bunch of parks, and a whole lot of dead ends. But we believe we actually cracked the New York Secret Treasure and we will walk you through step-by-step.

So let’s start at the beginning. Rather than have you go back and watch the whole episode of Expedition unknown hosted by Josh Gates, I’ll take you through his theory and steps in this two-part treasure hunting vlog.

This is an awesome video. I learned about this from Expedition Unknown also and I’ve always wanted to look into this. Amazing that in all this time only 3 keys have been found. Lots of fun!

This is literally the exact theory me and a friend came up with yesterday inspired by the same show. I have a feeling I can know where you’re going this theory and I cannot wait to see what Google maps doesn’t show.

It is in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. You will find the verse works there perfectly fine and your grey giant is the Verrazano bridge. You should also tell anyone interested, that these can not be dug up easily. Thus why no more have been found. Good luck!

Hi.
I like the video. For me, your theory in part isn't new but sound, and that's a good thing. If it's good, it probably has been considered over the years.
If your Hamilton idea falls apart ( Hamilton had his customs building nearby so mixing it with natives line might not be needed) in your consideration, try the image clue of Liberty offering a white Chrysanthemum. The immigrant group being Russians considers the white Chrysanthemum as a token of honor and devotion. ( russian word for honor is pronounced "chest")That is 2 out of the 3 descriptors of the tenants of the Coast Guard member . They are Honor, Respect and Devotion to duty.
Once in a while, the Coast Guard Cutter USS Eagle shows itself in NYC.
Note that Byron might have used similar relationships of word and imagery to point to casque aka chest location. Example might be the word Hush for Chicago. The hand gesture that signifies that word is a pointed up finger by your lips. If the Chigago creature made that gesture it would point the finger right at the fence post image over its head.
Byron, according to his friend Ben Asden, in so many words, is enthusiastic about historic ships as he states online.
See my NYC different verse theory. Been stated over and over that verses were never verified by The Secret officials.
My theory is based off of Abroad in America Liberty and NYC Jose Marti chapter pg 222. Abroad in America is the verse verification source for New Orleans Soverign people who build Palaces verse line. The publishers at least in later years had a business relationship with Byron as seen in business article.
Conclusion to my theory is the Statue from May 1913 dedicated Maine monument of post bellum for Spanish American War treaty terms is when the U.S. after acquiring territories from Spain was seen as stated on the U.S. gov historian site article entitled " The birth of a Super power" as a Super Power for the first time. Doesn't hurt that the top Columbia Triumphant ( Liberty precursor) statue was modeled by America's first Super model, Audrey Munson.
Liberty in illustration hovers like a superhero, location has Charles Keck Lady Liberty plaque with word DEVOTION on her shield. Byron Preiss, according to his obituary, was a Comic books devotee, a NYC Eastern European Jewish creation. I think the NYC Russian link is Byron Preiss. Liberty face looks a bit like him. So Justice statue and Liberty plaque with golden orb above matches NYS seal with motto shared by Stan Lee, who is also mentioned on Byron's obituary.
That motto is Excelsior!
Edwin clue has circular verification seeing Edwin Booth had a daughter named Edwina and a brother named John Wilkes. Edwin Booth was named after the actor Edwin Forrest, who became more famous for a NYC operahouse riot on 8th and Astor. It's the white house tie in.
John Wilkes Booth Edwins brother killed Lincoln. Piccirilly brothers carved the statue on Maine Monument, NYC library lion's, and The D.C. Lincoln statue for its Lincoln memorial.
The white house close at hand is the white Lincoln center MET opera house built on NYC old San Juan Hill neighborhood and was Jose Marti's last NYC address on where the opera house now stands and Audry Munson's last NYC address as well. Byron interned with DC comics working on the Green Lantern and spoke at Comic Con in San Diego multiple times and worked with Stan Lee and Marvel comics on a few occasions!
Another tidbit is the Russian businessman owned Liberty statue replica now at the Brooklyn museum parking lot at the time of casque burial stood on a building roof in view from the Licoln Center Met Opera house fountain. If you did a street view on a map program and looked from the fountain you would have been staring at the Liberty replica. Coincidence that Gershwins mom and brother lived on the Central Park face of that block of buildings. Gershwin as it turned out was a composer that worked on Tin Pan Alley.
For the NYC theory to work you have to flip Charleston with NYC and Tin Pan Alley is the key. If you search Tin Pan Alley and Charleston you come up with Gershwins African American composer friend James P Johnson who composed "The Charleston" and wanted to follow Gershwins Rhapsody with his own called Yamacraw a Negro Rhapsody. Both songs were inspired by former slave culture from the same coastal region Gullah- Geechee. Gullah inspired The Charleston and Geechee inspired the Rhapsody.Roots was still an impact full story in early 80s.
The Abroad in America tie in for the alternative verse swap solve is supported by the image 2 Lion's mane #'s 80 and 436 on lion's perspective left side. 436 is Weeping Time slave auction clue as mentioned by Abroad in America pg 80 Fanny Kemble slave plantation diary chapter describing Butler her ex selling half his slaves that numbered on historic marker as 436. The city that Yamacraw neighborhood stood is where Weeping Time took place. Coincidently the park that had a hwy memorial as hinted between lions ears the 3 letters hwy had the Ogeechee road lead to Butler plantation town from spot of memorial. The word Ogeechee was said to be origin of slave culture word Geechee that the Rhapsody was inspired by. Lions ears are in shape of muzzle holes of 2 highway memorial. Same park contains Sgt William Jasper memorial. He was killed fighting British near there. He was the flag hero inspiration for the South Carolina flag as hinted to by pear cresent shadow and daisy palmetto like shape in the same orientation as flag. British southern territory border line plaque is in park so if you look north from highway memorial you look at Brittish Isle power.
Also at this park Sherman gifted Lincoln Savannah as a Christmas gift is why I think Ft Sumter clock confederate image conglomeration hangs off a pine branch like a christmas ornament. Lion predominant habitat is a Savanna also spelled Savannah. There is a tiny arrow pointing at Lion whisker pad on right side.
Lions are scientifically recognized by whisker pad patterns and forehead scars.
Butterflies are recognized by wing patterns. There is a peacock hidden on butterfly fairy left wing. African peacock butterfly.
Clues are in patterns or images.
