A lot has happened since the Chavista fraud on July 28th. Now, Nicolás Maduro aspires to govern for another six years, despite the fact that it's clear the overwhelming majority of Venezuelans want him far away, to put it mildly.

The question is: Has Maduro won the battle, or is this just the beginning? What would need to happen to finally see a crack that could break Chavismo? How far will the repression go? In this video, we share all the details and also include the perspective of Iván Duque, former President of Colombia.

There's another dimension to the military situation in Venezuela: the Chavez and Maduro regimes have secured the services of Cuba's intelligence service (DGI), who has gathered a lot of info about senior Venezuelan military leaders. The latter know that if they do anything against the regime, their own families and loved ones will get hurt...

The only way to overthrow Maduro's regime is by military coup and the problem is that the military is in the regime's payroll and the military is highly decentralized but one can only hope we can get out of this mess.

What I know for sure is that you can only push people so hard and far.
My wife is Venezuelan, so I hear about the situation and keep tabs on it everyday.
The people in the military and police have family suffering too.
Maduro wants to implement a planned power cut to a number of cities for up to a week now.
The fears are around what will happen there where there is no longer possible media coverage.
Soon, the people will likely bite the head off of the snake.
I can't see it going any other way.

Unlikely, they're all in Maduro's pocket 🤷🏻‍♀️

The military has mostly been purged of people not loyal to Maduro at this point so don't expect too much.

No matter the outcome, it's going to get real bad in Venezuela. Even the best outcome if this gets resolved peacefully and the opposition takes power, they still have the mammoth task of starting to fix Venezuela. It's near impossible to get that country into functional mode in only 6 years after decades of economic chaos, corruption, authoritarism.

It's quite bizarre that during my lifetime, I've seen Venezuela go from problematic but rather prosper, to the chaos it is today. From being a country you'd consider to migrate to for a chance at a better life, to a place that people just want to leave. Venezuelan artists, entertainers and media used to be huge in the Spanish speaking world... Chavismo eliminated a whole lot of that.

I wonder why Visual Politiks does not do videos about the same thing that has been happening much longer in Cuba?

Nice. They need to get N.M. out if the country is to survive.

I wish I could get enthused about the Maduro mob meeting a bad and abrupt end. However history taught me long ago that what follows will be another dictatorship. The only thing tougher than birthing a truly representative govt is keeping it alive long enough to take root and become self supporting.

I think he got a bit too optimistic there towards the end. He’s failing to take into consideration that, the Venezuela army is well infiltrated by the Cuban army who report anybody discussing anything negative about Chavismo And those who they do so can find themselves getting tortured, so it’s unlikely that’ll be a grassroots uprising from the military

Feels like Starmer has been taking tips from Maduro. I really hope this isn't a peek into the UK's future.
