I remember running into an old girlfriend and I felt like she had aged so much, but not from anything but her own self. It was like she turned 50, gave up and put on the old uniform. She cut her hair in that old mom style and stopped dressing fashionable. She kept commenting how I looked so much younger then she did. A few years later we got together and she looked great! She lost a bit of weight, dressed better and styled her hair. She was happy and I was for her. Yeah we are old, but instead of giving up, make the most of it!

Last year at age 58 I decided to let my hair go grey. I have a son who was 12 at the time and I asked if it bothered him I would be the only Mom in his friend group with grey hair. "Hmm. No, I don't care. You'll only be grey on the outside, not grey on the inside." There you have it - the secret to being youthful is not being grey on the inside.

Famous people 50 is not real life. They get so much work done because it’s part of their job, I do wish people would stop comparing themselves and others, to celebrities.
I also don’t think 50 is as old as people tend to picture in their heads. Looking good for me, is looking healthy and strong, not worn and beaten down. You look healthy and strong Lou! 🤍✨

I really feel like the styles back then aged women. Now women keep “youthful” sortof landmarks. Like keeping their hair longer, wearing about the same makeup and clothes that younger girls do. Rather than dressing in that sortof “grandma” style we have come to see as “grandma” such as deep set curls seen in the golden girls, extra modest cardigans, ill fitting clothes to hide the waist and pantyhose. Just my thoughts. Women aren’t “dressing their age” anymore in a sense, or trying to dress the way they think a 50yo “should” dress that people come to know as the style of an older woman. If any of this makes sense!

I think the issue is when people reach an age and think they have to “act that age.” My parents at 50 would complain about doing things and literally say “I’m too old for that.” I’m 44 now and I ski, motorcycle, cycle, and do my hair and makeup how I want. I got ID’d in Canada in November, and I bet it’s more about how I feel than how I look. I have mega crows feet!! 😂

"You look good for your age" is the biggest backhanded compliment. It reinforces the notion that beauty is contingent upon youth. Lou, you look extraordinary. I'm a little younger but with the utmost objectivity think I look better now than I did in my 20s and 30s. Why? Confidence and a better sense of style. I feel sexier. Some women take 40-50 years to grow into their beauty. What a wonderful and downright exciting prospect.

I’m not ashamed of my age but I try to not share it because I feel I’m treated differently when people learn my age. We “girls of a certain age” aren’t anyone’s target audience. Our opinion and our thoughts are discounted by those who are younger. <sigh>

I like to tell people I'm older than my 52 years so they think ( Dang she looks good ! ) . Seriously getting older has great benifits and ageing respectfully with grace is key .

Welcome to your 50s! Happy Birthday! You look fantastic. I thought you were about ten years younger than me! I'm turning 53 next month! I think a lot of it has to do with our attitude and that we just don't age like previous generations. I don't know if the skincare is better or what...because we all laid out in the sun back in the 80s covered in Coppertone tanning oil! LOL I have a friend who is the same age as me and people think she's in her late 60s...so maybe it's all about the lifestyle we have or whatever. I don't know. Most people guess me in my late 30s or early 40s, so I'm good with that. :)

I don't factor in your age by thinking that you're gorgeous. You're a very good-looking human. I think that Jennifer Lopez has been taking very good care of herself throughout the years, i read that she's very into skincare and always has been, and that obviously she exercises a lot, she's very fit and healthy, people of all ages should take that inspiration.

Women who start out gorgeous based on their genetics probably have a higher chance of looking good as they age. It is not accurate to compare celebrities who are considered to be "hot" with other celebrities that aren't ( typically) "hot." And let's just not even go down the rabbit hole of comparing "typical" people with celebrities. I am younger than Jennifer Aniston and she will ALWAYS be "hotter" than me. Haha! Good video content to ponder.

I am 53 almost 54. I look horrid. I am really battling with my face the most. It's really quite sad. Sun damage. Alcohol....smoked as well. Used skin care products but I don't think that helped much. Somewhere in the inner me, is someone sad. But life is life. And we are still here
