Last year we lost our leader and founder Jamal Edwards, MBE. It has been the hardest thing in the world to process as he was the driving force behind so much and such a bright light in all of our lives here at team SB.

Jamal had a unique connection with artists and creatives and was happiest when he was connecting and creating. His journey began locally but took him on a global adventure on the way forming unique bonds. One of these bonds was with long time friend and brother Ed Sheeran. From a tweet to a long lasting brotherhood.

With the return of the flagship series F64 Ed Sheeran kicks us off with a tribute to Jamal. At SBTV, we will continue to push and support British artists, bringing artists together in new ways. Jamal's legacy will live on through his incredible achievements, SBTV and the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust.

Tanisha Artman, SBTV CEO " We plan to keep everything in line with what Jamal started and was working on. SBTV will stay true to its roots and that will never change as we grow. Thank you to everyone that has supported us we are forever grateful. "

Long Live Jamal Edwards MBE
1990 - 2022

We would like to say a special thank you to Ed's Management team, Atlantic records, Chelsea FC and Fulwell 73.

I understand there will be some more "mainstream" fans of Ed that aren't familiar with SBTV and its relevance in Ed's career growth.
Before Ed was the "star" he became, Jamal Edwards (founder of this channel SBTV and the series F64) pretty much gave Ed his first true immersion in front of the camera. He truly believed in Ed's talent and would put Ed into countless opportunities for no cost because he truly believed in Ed's talents (and it's not just Ed he did this for. Half of the UK's surge in the past decade could be attributed to Jamal and SBTV including the likes of Jessie J and more). He wasn't Ed's manager. He wasn't his agent. He didn't earn anything from Ed's album sales. He just gave Ed the shots he could because he truly was an aficionado of talent and great musicians and felt they deserved to be elevated if you could help them. Jamal was known to give people a shot irrespective of whether they could afford it or not. He loved music and was an anchor for many stars, both established and those that are upcoming in the British scene. If he thought you were talented/hardworking he would just give people a shot because he understood his position was to elevate the talents he came across, irrespective of whether he made any money from them or not. Just a through-and-through fan of music. He is a BIG loss for the world. An incredible shining beacon and did so much in the short time he was here. From music, to art, to inspiring primary school kids. And with this in mind, you can probably try to understand the hurt that Ed is going through. The one person who believed in you when no-one did. The one who was in your corner and would always be by your side pushing you. And you both made it through the unimaginable to become great successes... it feels like it was the moment where you start building the second chapter and become a dynasty. Begin gearing towards reaching for even more and start laying the next frontier infrastructure for music together. Neither were supposed to lose the other. That's not how the story is supposed to go! I can only imagine the huge pain and emotional heartache and burden this is for Ed, for Jamal's family, for the whole SB team.. and for the whole industry. Because I for sure will remember what Jamal's contribution was and the shining light he was. Rest in Peace Jamal Edwards.

After watching the documentary, "Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All", this is just so beautiful. Watching this feels so real. Such a massive tribute. Mad respect.

Ive heard so many stories from countless people what Jamal did for them, I remember he shared the first ever video of me singing a track which went viral years ago, It gave me a lot of self belief and will never forget that. A true legend in UK music. RIP Jamal

That quiver in Ed’s voice at the end of the song… you can tell he just put everything he has into this performance and could barely make it to the end. Such a powerful song.

Honestly, I think this is Ed’s best work. Grief can pull some of purest pieces of art out of us

The fact Ed posted this on SBTV just shows how humble this guy is, could of done it on his own channel but gives 1 final parting gift for Jamal Edwards. RIP hopefully this revives the channel 🕊🙏

No matter how many times I listen to Ed's song "F64, " it makes me cry.
No matter how many years pass, I remember the feelings and heartache I felt for my loved ones.
Even if I move forward
I can't forget it.

64 years of age and in tears.
Lost my brother in 2000, still trying to heal.
You never get over it, you learn to live with it, still working on it

This is probably one of the most raw and heartfelt tributes I have ever heard. Definitely hits hard for those who saw Ed come up at a time where Jamal created a platform and more for artists that didn’t have one. I remember the days I used to convert SBTV videos into MP3 files so I can listen to them on my way to school and Bluetooth them to my mates. Ed is clearly a generational talent and has proved how versatile of an artist he really is. I know Jamal is proud and happy for your blessings Ed. Stay strong and carry on blessing the world with your art through Jamal’s legacy. Thank you for everything Jamal.

Jamal inspired me a lot when I was leaving college, watching his Google chrome ad, making me think it was possible to chase making videos, I still remember the day he saw my channel and messaged me, I could hardly afford the train ticket to London to meet him, I'm grateful for the opportunities and the self belief he gave me and many others, a legend, RIP Jamel 💙

The fact that they played this masterpiece on Croatian radio today left me speechless. When Ed sings about his life expiriences, it hits different. That's why his first albums vere so special. Love you Ed 🤍 May your friend keep you safe 🕊️
