The National Energy Regulator of South Africa has granted Eskom an 18.65-percent increase in electricity tariffs. The energy regulator agreed to a further 12.74-percent increase on 1 April 2024. This brings the total price hike to an effective 33.7 percent in two years. Professor of Sustainable Development in the Centre for Sustainability Transition, Mark Swilling, weighs in. #DStv403

All citizens of South Africa must stop paying Electricity and Rates there is more Load shedding than before and also the condition of our Roads it's disgusting the other day someone got stuck in a pothole I think we South African must start buying tanks to drive

This is inaccurate. No possible way that renewables is a solution. Why is there a need for this when there is already existing infrastructure which was fully operational 20 years ago? The issue is the lack of maintenance which has broken down existing infrastructure to such an extent that much of it is unusable. So where has all the money gone from all previous increases if it is not being used in maintenance? Yet another increase will not change this. Citizens will not continue to be compromised or foot the bill for corruption. Does news media understand water and sewage essential services also cannot be provided without electricity?
