Hey Grey! I got my gmrs license and have a 40w and 50w mobile and a few handhelds. Baofeng and wouxun. They work great, especially when dialed into a repeater. All the best!

I have been remiss in preparing for communication if a situation occurs. I have family that lives a little less than half a mile that it would be nice to have a way to contact if the phones go down. 👍

Yes more radio reviews. Plus if you buy a set can you purchase another set and they are all compatible?

Excellent review for a unit to consider.

Nice honest review brother. The range of most of these radios are way over estimated. Even the really expensive radios in my experience drop off quickly. The only ones I’ve seen work really good were our old low band fire radios. In fact we use to pick up signals from Georgia and the Carolinas on certain days. Once we were actually able to talk back to them. Lol. 👍👍

Good review. I would like to see more reviews. I’m thinking about getting some so I can reach my brother and sister in case there’s no phone service…everyone else is out of range.

Hi Grey! I've been thinking about getting something like this. One of my daughters lives about a mile or so away so I think I will need something with a bit more range. Good review though! Thanks!

A couple of my neighbors have talked about these and one who lived a little over a city block from my house told me if I use my Lifeguard voice I dont need one but in a 2 city block radius we have a County court house, a hospital and a couple of schools which cause interference.

It's all going to be down to what is between you and the other radio. These are VHF radios which use line of sight propagation. Height is might at those frequencies!
