Don't forget the honda element has the k24 engine and that engine is extremely tunable and can handle power great

Australian version.
Suv: Suzuki Jimny 2010 ish, about 5-6k usd, reliable little suv and great for off-roading trips. Parts are plentiful and aftermarket support is amazing.
Sedan: Ford Falcon BA. You can find them on the cheap for around 1 k USD. Good daily. Reliable and the motor is capable of handling crazy power.
Now the controversial sports car: BMW 125i E82/LCI. It has the naturally aspirated version of the N54, the N52, it’s a lightweight car (1450kg iirc) and it’s a lot more reliable compared to the N54, one of the most reliable 6 cyl bmw made. They can be around 7 on the cheap end.

I got a 2012 mazda 3 hatch at 242, 000. Its got some minor problems but for that high mileage, all original parts, it runs amazingly well

First gen ford explorer, mercury grand marquis, and a 97 CLK320 would be a good option as well.

I second the Mazda 3. Easy to find a manual, great commuter. College roommate took one to 250k before it finally went out on him. The fix was simple too, he just wanted a new car.
