In today’s video I thought we should explore how much we should be investing per month in order to reach a state of financial independence and be able to retire early, living purely off our investment portfolio value. We’ll explore the concept of financial independence in detail, how we can achieve it, the impact on inflation, and how you can calculate exactly how much you need to invest per month to ensure that you’re on target to achieve it.

Great video, I’ve been after something like this for ages, especially as I want to retire in 20 years. Just need to find £2, 175pm now!

You need to factor in tax also to the pension pot amount needed. That’s why saving in ISAs for retirement is so important.

The state pension will never run out but it makes sense to have your own investments.

Excellent video! Just wondered what calculator tool you used for the graphic to determine how much you would get after 20/25 years depending on how much you invested per month at 7% expected market return. Just as I would like to set the years to 30 but I dont trust my own maths to do it myself! Thanks

Good morning Mitch!
How do you think the latest geopolitical developments will impact the financial markets?

Im much closer to retirement than Mitch so im so pleased that I only have to add on top of my state pension of £11500 per year in todays money plus I also have an old Defined Benifits pension that equates to approx £7000 per year so total of £18500. To Get to my target of £30K i just need to add £11500 per year so pot size needs to be £287, 500 based on a 4% widthdrawl rate

Morning Mitch. Do you have a video that shows the pros/cons of individual investments vs using pies on T212?

I’ve been putting more money into pension and Lisa than an isa due to the 25% free top up. I guess money spread over all 3 ain’t bad.

Video Editing is too low 👎👎👎👎

Edit the video in a good style.

Add nice b-roll animation when you are speaking or explaining something. This will increase visualization.

Put proper subtitles, effects, transitions, and colors in the video.

Insert the B-Roll (footage and animation) very well because it is absolutely low in your video.

Do all this and then see how the video doesn't turn out good. 🥭

Interesting video I'm in my 50s and I'm more interested in investments that could set me up for retirement.

While inflation is always there, people need to keep in mind that as you get older you also spend less on things.

Hi Mitch, thank you for this.
Do you pay into a pension also?
I have a private pension with Penfold. As I’m self employed the govt pay in a 25% tax bonus on whatever I pay in.
I’d be interested to hear what you think on pension v’s say S&P 500. Thanks 😊

Also once my current isa has transferred over do i drip feed that money into different funds or just put it all in at once?

£700 per month minimum. It’s hard work but it’s worth it.

Personally I think it is easier to think of things in terms of todays money and use investment returns net of inflation. I assume 5% return after inflation
