The founder makes money by a dedicated salary + profit dividend shares + bonuses + sale of his shares (if he/she wishes to sell some shares)

For the Question "How does Start-up founders make money"

Notice that he never mentioned about the company making any profit from sales....
That is the mentality of idian startup founders sell to investors, mergers or ipo and then next

Merger and Acquisition as the name suggests are 2 cases
Not just Takeover
It can also be a typical merger
For example Vi (Vodafone and Idea)

I thought I was dumb cause I didn't understand his explaination... Then I read the comment section. No one did apparently. :) So we are all right, this guy's answer to the question is bullocks!

Don't forget the salary. A start-up founder also takes a good chunk of salary from the generated revenue and investors' fund just like any other employee of that company. Most startup founders take compensation above 50 LPA being bare minimum.

We have come to a point that we consider funding rounds by selling equity as a way of making money

Let me break it down simply:

For companies NOT listed on the stock market (like startups or small businesses):

1. Founders usually take a salary.

2. If the company is profitable, any leftover money (after reinvesting) is distributed among shareholders as a reward.

3. Dividends are technically possible but rarely happen in such companies.

For companies listed in an IPO:

1. Founders earn massive salaries as top executives.

2. They receive dividends, which are basically profits shared annually among shareholders, based on the company’s performance.

3. Lastly, founders can cash out big through acquisitions or exits.

It’s all about scaling up and playing the long game.

I never understood what sharan with his company does do. He is selling his courses without any substance. Except making those funny finance with Sharan videos, he looks like a complete fraud.
