Chinese takeaway style Char Sui Pork

Ingredients
4 pork shoulder steaks
Marinade for the steaks
1 teaspoon ginger paste....
1 teaspoon of garlic paste
2 tablespoons dark soya sauce soy
1 tablespoon light soya sauce
2 tablespoons shaoxing wine
4 tablespoons of golden syrup..
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce....
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 tsp five-spice powder
Pinch of white pepper
1/4 teaspoon red food colour

Method
Place your pork shoulder steaks in a polyethene bag and pour in the marinade
Marinate for 24 hours
Cook in the oven for 30 minutes gas mark 180 degrees
Use the remainder of the sauce to baste the pork
Done

This is my version of Char Sui..Many versions are available online and are very much the same...This will enable me now to make various Char sui dishes over the coming weeks..Once cooled it can be frozen..

I've just finished making a batch of this and it is DELICIOUS! Tastes exactly like the BBQ pork ribs from my local takeaway and so easy and relatively cheap to make. I'd highly recommend this recipe to anyone

Alex this looks delicious and so simple to make love the freezer bag trick and the fact your using a halogen oven i use my halogen for all my chicken tikka/tandoori recipes so controllable and you can see exactly how the food is cooking i can't wait to try this recipe ;-)

another good one for the books :) as i am looking for this for the pancake rolls..but for the moment i will buy it ..if i can....once i master the other bits ..and have more time ...then perhaps i shall dive into the full event :)

Hi Alex i am about to marinate these babies for the weekend now i have all the ingredients you say cook for 30 mins on 180c do you turn theses after 15 mins i will be using my trusty halogen like yourself p.s if i use 8 steaks do i double all the ingredients, thanks Chas😉
