I am up for learning new things but sometime I feel the youtube/content creators oversell this notion that we constantly need to learn something new. Like every year. It’s kind of impossible to keep up. I understand that for them this is their livelihood. In hindsight we should learn a good solid language and stick with it until you become an expert and then you go for new tech/languages.

Just started using ChatGPT at work. I asked it to create a Python script to convert all image tags in an HTML that used a URL into ones that store the image in base64. It did it in seconds, well organized, with a clear and concise comment on almost every line. I asked it to modify the script to be compatible with any image format, not just jpeg. Lo and behold; it came up with the perfect, elegant solution.

Hot take: Chat gpt has the power to lower the general knowledge required for programming. It’s also possible pay will be lower becuase you arnt having to do much work or someone else can do it quicker. Chatgpt also opens the possibility for a lot of incorrect code. I am open for discussion!

I don't think stackoverflow will decrease. Fireship shared a meme in which he mentioned how it takes 5 mins to copy code from chatgpt but 24 hrs to debug it

I'm very hopeful about WebAssembly (on browser or via WASI).
Elixir is amazing, they're working on a type system and I can't wait to see what they'll create.
The value of a BEAM-like architecture (isolated processes, messages passing, supervision trees) would probably be recognized more than before.

Stackoverflow traffic will not be less instead it will increase more as new engineers are engaging in programming. Stackoverflow is not only for getting a piece of code it's also for know what advance developers has to share about your issues and they also provide some alternative and experiences which an AI will never tell.
