Ari Shaffir is an LA comedian living in New York City. When this special was recorded in 2012, he was still living in Los Angeles. He moved to New York the next year because the heat was off from what he helped plan on 9/11/01.

So far, Ari has done an Album "Revenge for the Holocaust," this special, "Passive Aggressive," a special called "Paid Regular" that was filmed at The Comedy Store, and "Double Negative." Ari also created, produced, edited, and hosted the show This Is Not Happening that helped launch the careers of some of the comedians you know and love today.

A grand total of zero of the armchair critics in these comments could even dream of having half of the comedic chops as Ari. There’s a reason his social circle is a who’s who of the best stand-ups in the industry, and he’s done so much generous work for the art of comedy by bringing up newer younger comics and having them open for him that his selfless reputation precedes him—that is, from those who actually know him. And so it’s honestly hilarious how transparent it is that these haters are all just the righteously indignant kind of people who have nothing better to do than watch black comedy so that they have something to get offended about. If he’s not for you, that’s fine, but his popularity among his peers shows him to be a true comic’s comic—and so even if there aren’t wrong opinions, that’s definitely about the closest you can get.

Screw the dorks wasting their time shitting on you Ari. I watched your appearance on Theo Vons podcast and walked away thinking you're one of the boldest, truest, comedic artists out there rn. It takes balls to live life and perform the way you do. I loved when you talked about how the media isn't gonna dictate whether you're going to be a comedian or not and how you can give two fucks about how they mess with your money because you had no money when you started and already proved yourself. I also loved when you went in on your opinions on social media and how much it fucks with our brains. The people shitting on you are the ones with that dopamine induced psychosis of reality.
