On November 21, 1942, the Alaska Highway, also known as the Alcan Highway, was formally opened at Soldier’s Summit in the Yukon Territory. See footage of the highway being constructed in 1942.

American Army Engineers in Camp at Fort St. John, British Colombia. They are working on the Highway from U.S. to Alaska. Cook has a victory haircut. Col. W. L. Hoge is now in command of construction. Finally there is a view of the country across which the Highway run north to Alaska.
