Captain Sir Tom Moore's memory has been honoured with a national clap.

People around the country took part in the tribute to the veteran at 6pm on Wednesday, following his death at the age of 100.

The veteran's family said they were "incredibly touched" by the gesture and took part outside their home in the village of Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire, along with neighbours.

One story that stands out for me was a 14yo boy who died alone in a hospital bed as his parents weren't able to visit him due to covid.
This was never mentioned by Boris for obvious reasons.

The national clap did not happen just a few people standing out in to cold and rain flapping like seals where the cameras were

Imagine having a government so lame a 100 year old man has to fund the health service

An honourable man who deserves respect, but this clapping nonsense is just empty virtue signalling.

Totally over the top, what about the poor families that couldn’t be at the bedsides of their loved ones...One rule for them and another for the rest of us.
RIP Tom

Notice how many overwhelmed NHS staff managed to spare the time to go outside and clap.
I saw a picture of Captain Tom in the Bahamas at Christmas with Cliff Richard and Russ Abbott all huddled together....no social distancing or masks!. I’m glad he got the opportunity to fulfill his bucket list wish.

We are beyond clapping at this point Boris, using a war hero's death is pretty sick.

absolutely NOBODY, in my village joined the "national clap". at 6 o clock, last night, i switched off my radio to listen & heard nothing. no claps, no cheers, apart from the distant bark of a dog, & the murmer of trafic, on the by pass road in the vally at the bottom of the hill, my village was absolutely silent. people are getting sick & tired of these daft publicity stunts. cheer for the NHS!, clap for captain tom!, does our gouvernment think we are a lot of poodles, trained to do silly tricks at their command?

They exploited captain Tom right up until the end, if the media had left him alone he may well have lasted a few more years. beyond acknowledging him for what he did, he should have been left to live out his life in peace. I expect he had been given the COVID vaccine so should that not raise questions.

No one clapped except those that did it for the camera.
