Having followed Pegula closely over the last year, it’s clear to me she has grown as a strategist. I debated doing a Stake punt on her because of this, but didn’t have the guts to go against the goat. This match was a perfect display of her tactical growth, well played Pegula!

It's clear Swiatek still hasn't recovered mentally after Olympics disappointment. 41 UEs in 90 mins is insane... congrats to Jess for her first ever slam SF, she deserved it more than anybody else, always so solid 👏👏👏👏

2:24 You can tell Iga isn't used to shaking the umpire first 😂

Too many errors from Iga. The serve also didn't function well. On the other hand, Jess played great tennis. She's on form and it shows. Congrats from an Iga fan.

I think Iga struggles with flatter shots. So she doesn't like to play with players like Pegula, Rybakina & Ostapenko. She doesn't vary her game too.. doing some dropshots or lobs or changes the pace of the game with high loopy shots or come in to volley.

There are two ways to beat Iga, serve and volley, or out hit her with flat shots that give her no time to prepare her more loopy swing style. Pegula did the latter.

Iga one-dimensional play, repeating endlessly — no thrill

Definitely my favourite American player, always nice, humble and not confrontational. Congratulations Jessica 👏🏾

All the Olympic medalists eliminated from the draw. I think playing at the Olympics did took a toll on the players as changing surfaces from clay to hard within weeks is not easy.

This just proves that Iga is only one dimensional. Great on clay, very vulnerable on other surfaces where the pace is faster for her to counteract. Go Pegula go.

Amazing tennis by Jessica Pegula who played beautifully. Lest one forget -- Iga has performed mightily on hard court, winning the U.S. Open, Indian Wells (twice) and Miami -- to name only a few of her hard-court wins. She will win the U.S. Open again some day. Congrats to Jessica Pegula today!

Finally wins a QF against the toughest opponent of them all! And Jess does it at home too, that must make it feel extra special.

Hoping Rublev makes his slam SF breakthrough soon

Iga's game style hasn't changed much such that many women in the tour can read her game like an open book.
