TWO Ways to use EasySubli with an EcoTank to Sublimate on Cotton

If you're looking to learn about how to use Siser EasySubli with and Epson EcoTank printer that's been converted for sublimation, then you've come to the right place!

When you start your sublimation journey, you're bound to find out that there are some extra steps you need to take to sublimate on 100% cotton shirts (or sublimate on colored/dark shirts). Sublimation ink doesn't bind to cotton - it needs a poly material to bind to, which is why it doesn't work for cotton shirts. Sublimation doesn't work on dark/colored shirts because sublimation ink doesn't have a white base in it. So, if you're wanting to sublimate on a cotton shirt OR a dark shirt, you need a medium in between. One of the materials that you can use to sublimate on a cotton shirt is Siser EasySubli.

However, as we show in this video, it's not as easy as just printing on EasySubli and following the usual steps. Siser EasySubli was made for Sawgrass Sublimation Printers (and even more particular, sawgrass printers with the EasySubli ink installed in them), so there are quite a few things you need to know to successfully use Siser EasySubli ink with an Epson EcoTank printer.

We cover everything you need to know about that in this video! Links to all materials are below.

Time and Temperature: 350 degrees for 45 seconds
Tacking blank EasySubli first: 310 for 15 seconds.

What I great video!! Thank you for showing both methods, really great info here! We did run into one issue using the EasySubli and the Epson printer. We were unable to get the sheet to feed into the printer correctly. After 7 attempts I decided to try to help the paper feed. This worked, both times I tried, but the sheet didn't feed straight and the ink streaked a bit. We ended up deciding that the EasySubli was more trouble than it was worth, but this video may change that. I really like the idea of sublimating onto the EasySubli sheet, this could minimize a number of the problems we ran into. Anyway, thanks again!!

I have an order for 100 polyprolene tote bags. They will not hold up under high heat. Using the first method was the only way I can accomplish this. I am so grateful to have found your tutorial. The first method worked fabulously. My eco tank 4800 printed the easy subli without pizza wheels, which was an added bonus. Thank you both.

That looks great. If the white portion that you missed bothers you, you could probably use the Cricut Infusible ink markers to cover it up if you could match the color.

I absolutely love your tutorial. It’s helped me so much. The Easy subli mask doesn’t stick well for me. But I’m going to keep practicing. Thanks again

I thought I tried every print setting and settled on Premium Matte, standard res. Most of the time it was fine, but when there was lots of black in the image, it bled into other colors. Colors were vibrant though. Glossy photo/standard was ultimately the setting that solved the bleed problem, which is what you said in the vid, I think. So thank you.

Since the vibrancy in color did not matter and I have a sawgrass and an epson 8550...I have had so much trouble wasting with trying to line them up and cut with my cameo...I recently bought a cricut maker...will learn how to use ot tomorrow and try it so I can print it larger than my sawgrass 500 allows...I thank you for this helpful video!!

This was the best tutorial on easi sub that I have found plus you used cricut and epson - which I already have! As a graphic designer for a long time, I was most excited to see that you named the PSDs properly! With descriptive text and divided by dashes! no spaces! (ignored the other psds...LOL!) It is a pet peeve of mine. I really liked this method of having the whole video edited and you both just did the narration. It was a lot easier to follow and did not waste time while looking for something. Thanks so much!
