BMW's S58 is the best engine on the market right now

So BMW recently released there all new G80 M3, and yes the front end of the car has sparked some controversy but that’s not the topic of todays video, I want to talk about the glorious motor you will find upfront. This G80 M3 is powered by the S58 Engine which is a 3.0 Liter straight 6. Now just last week I made an entire video on the B58, BMW's non M car 3.0 liter straight 6 and I really like that engine, if you missed the engine go and check it after this video, now this engine is basically a B58 on steroids. I've got an X3M with the S58 engine and it is no joke. Spanked a dodge charger the other day at a light, we pull up to the next light and he was like, "I did not expect that" haha. I can only imagine what it would be like in the M3/M4 being 800lbs lighter

Those drift cars you showed were running for 2 years and when they took apart those engines, there were no internal issues what so ever. They were in almost perfect condition. This engine is a beast.

If the auto industry wasn’t going to switch to electric we probably wouldn’t have this engine for a few more years. This is a new golden age for internal combustion engines, the s58 will soon be going in the Supra, Toyota coming out with a 3 cylinder turbo Corolla making 300hp, the CT5 black wing and I’m sure there’s more.

This engine is incredible from what I've read. I didn't think I would see another demon of an engine platform, given the push towards EVs. But the S58 feels like a great return to bulletproof I6 BMW goodness. And yes, I think that the block itself can go well beyond 1200hp. I'd be interested to see what a girdled block with lightened and forged internals could do...

As the engien designer, builder, and tuner of the REDBull Driftbothers S58.s. I'd like to clear up a few mistakes in the video. There is no Meth injection. The port is normal fuel. They run on Aral 102 pump fuel. They can make at leat 1100 bhp wheels and 1250 nm torque. With Stock Internal parts.
