My passion is to be a Minecraft YouTuber and all my friends say 'have you made any money yet?' which just made me feel bad since their telling me I'm not gonna' get anywhere with this 'stupid' dream. But watching this video really reminded me that 'You know yourself better than anyone and you know what your capable of more than anyone' which just made me feel 10x better. Thank you flowstate you have no idea how many people your motivating. 💖

“Real jobs” are obsolete anyway. I’ve never seen anyone who works 9-5 in an office who does not live in constant pain. Those who say “get a real job” are coping because their lives are much worse than those who make money doing the things they love. Doesn’t matter how much you make, if you’re still working under someone else, you’re not successful. Follow your passion and create.

I know this isn't on topic so much I just wanted it to heard bc I saw ur last vid late and was making a comment on that one but i realized no one would see it bc i was late anyway both were great videos and this was the comment:

it's never good to look back on your life, it makes u old, it disappoints u with regret and hopelessness (this is because you can't change the past) so what if instead u live in the now, doing what this video suggests is a great idea just make sure to only do it based on what ur doing now don't look back necessarily, look forward or sideways (I don't know how to say 'look to the present') and if u realize u haven't met ur goal or if u keep going like this u wont then maybe u should make some changes, all i'm saying is looking back doesn't help and I have a feeling, Flow, that u didn't mean that u should. Just know that even if u don't make it to ur goal it's the journey that counts the time spent getting there. And remember, it'll all work out for the better in the end, ur fine relax, if u don't end up gettin to ur goal, u didn't fail u weren't meant to get there, ur goal wouldn't have been the best for u (the end product or the journey getting there), Time is precious as it says in the caption [of the last vid] and spending it having fun and helping others have fun too, even if u don't get to ur goal is better then getting to any goal anyone might have (for the most part).

You posted this video while i'm at a crossroads in my life. After high school i made the hard decision that i didn't want to go to college. I knew very well that it wasn't for me and i wasn't gonna gain anything from and in didn't want my parents to waste their money. Not going to college is tough since there isn't as clear of a path laid out on what to do after and so you're kinda forced to grow up and adapt earlier than most. I've always been interested in starting a business and being independent but it comes with the added challenge of having to learn most things from experience and failure and since i had never broke out of my shell as a kid i sheltered myself and wasn't prepared for the real world. Transitioning from sitting on my ass and watching youtube all day to having a regular sleep schedule and getting up early in the morning was difficult and took multiple months of failure just to fix my damn sleep schedule because i was so disorganized.

Basically what i do is buying old used bicycles and fixing them up and selling them for a profit. I've been doing this for about a month now and it's relatively successful but i've never felt so alive and focused. I've always been a shit student and never really did homework and so i thought i was just a lazy person. Nope. Turns out i just wasn't passionate about what school wanted me to be passionate about.

I'm not that much of a minecraft guy anymore or a gamer in general anymore (mostly because my laptop is shit, partly because i'm busy most of the time which is new for me), but i love watching your introspective videos. They motivate me alot and even tho i can't relate to most of what you do (go to college, make music, etc), i can still relate to the fear of not being good enough for my own standards and the fear of living with regret.

Keep up the good work, man. You're well on your way to hitting 100k this year!

I have a degree in Game Art and Development as well, and I feel the exact same about my degree. Not a single class was very focused on the texturing process or rendering, both pretty necessary pieces to have a portfolio worth looking at in the eyes of just about any company, even indies. I've had my degree for over half a year, but will have to spend quite a bit of time actually fleshing out my skills (and learning those hardly even mentioned in my program) to really get into it.
I will say: the degree is not really a necessity, from what I've learned from people and recruiters I've connected to in the field. The internet offers pretty much everything you need to learn the skills yourself, without going to college, and these companies want to see that you can do good work; make fluid animations, create great models with good topology and textures, render well, whatever else you might want to get into. So if anyone reading this seriously has a passion for it but their parents weren't supportive, or for other reasons, they can never go to college for it - don't give up, and try not to let that deter you. In a LOT of art fields, college is a biiiit over-rated in my opinion. It can certainly help, but it's not required. Dedicating time to your craft is far more important than a piece of paper saying you took a set list of classes.
(Also remember your first job probably isn't going to be exactly what you want, but this is typical of any field. If you wanna program games, or are already into programming or IT by other means, IT can be a GREAT first step into that industry too, even if you aren't working for a company that makes games.)

I want to be a teacher, because I'm very passionate about history and I just love teaching people. I know it's quite a traditional job, but as many people know being a teacher doesn't pay the best, so I'm having doubts. But this reminded me that I really should just go after my passion, no matter what doubts I have. Thank you for this video king ❤

I listened to my parents and went to college for software engineering and got a job at an established manufacturing company and giving up on my dreams has been destroying me for many years...

thank you for being another voice of encouragement that I wish I would hear more often from my dad, family, and everyone else i know in my life. I have also been told to be an engineer, made fun of when i talk about my you-tube dreams and other creative ideas, so i know how hopeless and isolating this can be. No one I know of in any of my social groups has social media or you-tube knowledge, so it feels like having it as a career is like a far off fairy tale that i want to reach with all my effort. It might sound sad, but it's true.
My family has never been very wealthy, and even now as a young adult i don't have a lot of freedom like others my age, so I'm starting to consider the military or a traditional career. Though I also don't want my creative ideas to die off because of a boring career, so if anyone knows of a discord i can join to talk to like minded people please let me know.
ps- im just a guy that's been watching you tube for a long time, and I had a bad day that reminded me of all the things that are out of my control in my life, so I wrote this to hopefully reach someone i can relate to.

Some people also don't understand, what if I don't need/want to make a ton of money? what if I am happy with living modestly. The truth is, you just need a job that can provide for your basic needs and if you have a family, provide for them as well.

I remember, I wanted to study that same career in college. My parents looked at me with a weird face, and in that moment, I knew I had no choice. I'm studying software developing, I hope I can get a lot of knowledge from that, and also learn by myself the other aspects of making games. I was actually learning 3D modelling, because I love it, I hope one day I can make my dream game :)

Nicely said. To add- if what you want is so niche, there is none or barely any information on the field- why not be the first one to do the thing? It must be hard and you should (like someone here mentioned) have a backup plan but you will make the road not just for yourself but perhaps for someone else in the future? Or what do you know, maybe there actually are people who want to do the same thing as you? World is huge.
I hope this makes at least any sense because sleep not do, tomorrow Monday- work day, sleep less. Night good.

I've always wanted to work on a YouTube channel, even put together a basic logo and channel banner at one point, but when I got to the actual process of making a video, I was totally lost. I have ideas for videos all the time but taking an idea and turning it into something is completely alien to me, I get confused in the process that actually goes into a video, like scripting, editing, etc. I'm the type of person that needs a step-by-step process when working on creative stuff and there isn't really a guide I've found like that for YouTube (the reason I was able to get through making a channel was because I found a book that guides you through the process, but it's really vague when it comes to the video-making chapters. Maybe I can find another one that's specifically for video creation). I also fear the loss of anonymity that posting online can cause sometimes, I don't want to risk getting doxxed and don't really like the idea of people I know in real life finding the videos I make. YouTube seems like an incredible opportunity for creative expression but it's really hard to justify spending time on it when I'm not guaranteed success and I don't really have any other plans for my future. Idk, maybe it's just a silly idea leftover from when I was a kid watching YouTube all day, but it's an idea that's stuck in my mind at all times since then, and it's something I still want to pursue even despite the downsides. Maybe I'm just overthinking everything but it's weird to me that I still think about that, and maybe I'm just too good at psyching myself out of things and I'd be really good at it if I actually tried.
